I cannot do this again. To much at stake. I hate to leave them out there to die or reproduce. But after having a stray and kittens in the upstairs bedroom.
My oldest cat only 8 yrs old came down with something. No appetite, fever, diarrhea. Throws up after using the litter box. I dont know if its coincidence or she caught something. Foster has them now and was negative for feline leukemia.
Stress maybe brought on something? I do have a cat who i assume as herpes. He gets lysine twice a day or he gets the eye boogers.
Foster says no signs of illness in the strays.
What could we transfer to them? Seeing we were going in and out if the room? And washing bedding in the washer and drier. That they dont seem to have symptoms?

It might be just a coincidence that your 8 year old cat became sick while you had the mama and kittens in another room. Has he/she been checked out at the vet? There's many causes for vomiting, including stress. Here's an article that might be helpful: Your Cat Throwing Up?

I too would get your 8-year-old to the vet if possible. I know the stress of having your own cat become ill while having fosters - - I constantly worry that I might pass something from them to our own cats, even though we try to do our best as far as clean hands/etc (although I will admit my hubby isn't the best at washing and disinfecting his hands after leaving the foster room - -- particularly if we have kittens - -I think he just gets so excited about little ones that he forgets!).

As rubysmama rubysmama noted - there are lots of reasons for vomitting (and judging from how much you've been on the site, I'm sure you probably know most of them - - - but it never hurts to read and possibly find something you didn't remember, etc.). It seems like you took great precautions - - and FeLV is already ruled out. But I think I'd be most concerned since it seems to be so tied timing-wise to the litter box usage - - - - so I'd definitely make a vet run if possible. But I'm a worrier!

Keep us posted - - hopefully if it IS anything, it's easily fixed. :)

Momma still not eating on her own. She had an episode yesterday at 2pm, followed by throwing up liquid. They have me giving her science diet ad/id. She wont eat it on her own. But putting a tsp of it on the roof of her mouth to get some nutrition. So far i have not seen any diarrhea or vomiting since yesterday.

If she is not eating the new cat food on her own, my advice is to give her the food that she likes and is used to eating. Even if that means giving her treats or tuna fish. She needs to to eat and keep hydrated. I agree with the others, it's best to get her to a vet for an exam, if possible.

She has not been eating her regular food. And is under a vet care

She started feeling better monday. So i didn't bring her back in. She feels better. Eating on her own.
But being picky with certain foods.
But one other cat is not feeling well. She has been getting the runny eyes. Not sure if its uri from the stray cats. Or from a resident cat. Had him for a few years. He(resident cat) gets eye boogers if he doesnt get lysine twice a day. Worry about them getting that. Or there is crap floating around we transferred from the strays. :/

Glad she's feeling better. Hope her appetite continues to improve. And that all the other kitties are back to normal again soon.

Ugh just scooped the litter box and someone has watery diarrhea. Either still oreo or another cat.
Its clumping like urine so i didnt see it. But once it broke apart i could see the brown. Im so so sick right now. Watery diarrhea is not a good sign.
Im going to have to watch and see who it is. Or isnt. Then try and get a sample without litter.

She just went in the litter, stunk pretty bad. Part was formed, part was soft. I was going to take it in for testing tomorrow. But wonder if I should wait til Monday and see how she does. Im hoping the formed was the end. Could that be she is getting over what was causing it?

Ugh now there are more piles. With soft poop formed attached. :( i will have to watch as i started giving one cat another dry food because he stopped eating the simply nourish. Others have mentioned a change in the Simply Nourish. I wonder if thats causing it. :/ or all they all getting sick. Oh im so stressed over this. They eat mostly dry. I wonder if i could feed them canned to see if its the Simply nourish or maybe adding pumpkin to their food .

Food intolerances can definitely cause digestive issues. And it's recommended to change a cat's food slowly. Here's a TCS article with more: Transitioning Your Cat From Kibble To A New Type Of Food (canned, Raw, Or Homemade)

I've never tried putting pumpkin in cat food, but I have read it can help with both diarrhea and constipation. It has to be canned pure pumpkin though, not the pumpkin pie cans.
Yes i have used pumpkin before. I know about transitioning but when he stopped eating it , i had to feed him something . Im not sure if its the food . Or something else. Today was the first day i noticed formed stool attached to soft stool.
