So outta these 3 dry foods, what are your opinions? I've been reading these are some of the best options if you must feed dry(or is there another one you prefer?) What are your thoughts?

I use Cleanprotein. It seems like it has the least fruit and vegetable ingredients.
Farmina is hiring for a brand rep out here in my area, and I just don't think I can get behind it.

I feed Tiki's Chicken and Fish Luau which is also highly rated (just below Dr. Elsey's) on cat food data base. CatfoodDB's Unbiased List Of The Best Dry Cat Foods. Both my girls eat it but don't obsess over it. There is a chicken version if the fish is something you're looking to avoid. I like Dr. Elsey's as well, I just wish I didn't have to order it. I prefer to be able to grab it locally which ultimately made my decision but I feel equally good about Dr. Elsey's as well.

I also like Dr Elsey’s. I haven’t looked at Farmina, but Orijen has so much fish in it (although waaaay better than other things)
I was thinking of trying the farmina venison & pumpkin for my senior kitty. Has anyone tried this with their cats?

We haven't. The girls really like the Dr. Elsey's so we're sticking with that. In the past they have also tried Orijen, Petcurean GO! Fit & Free and Nature's Variety LID turkey and the Dr. Elsey's is by far the favorite

Dr. Elsey's seems to be everyones cats favorite :) I will have to try it for mine sometime, wish it wasn't so expensive though!

I feed Dr. Elseys chicken, its the only one all 4 of my guys agreed on :dunno:

they did like Orijen, but everyone seemed to gain weight on it, so i quit with orijen. They prefer Dr. Elseys anyway.

My two boys love anything Farmina, the girls eat it, but like Dr. Elseys better, the boys probally liked the Farmina a bit better. They are not normally fond of Venison, but i bought a few bags of the Farmina Venison and pumpkin, they loved the stuff, just not so much the two girls :dizzy: Boys did well on it, and it maybe their fav. I still buy a bag now and again just for them. Its just easier if i only need to deal with one food. But i am a fan of Farmina, if i could not use Elseys then Farmina would be my second choice.

yes, my two boys love this food, maybe their favorite ever. The girls are ok with it, but prefer Dr. Elseys chicken.

My cat grudgingly eats Dr. Elsey's. It's expensive so she's finishing the bag whether she likes it or not, but she's far from happy about it. I think it's actually her least favorite dry she's ever had. She wasn't happy when I got a Farmina sample for her to try, but at least she didn't give me such dirty looks with that stuff.

I can't give my cat Dr Elsey's dry, because she loves it so much that she'll wolf it down and then throw up. I actually use their fish as cat treats though.

I'm not a fan of Orijin, at all. There have been a lot of issues with them since they opened up their new US plant, unfortunately.

I did an online chat with a Chewy rep before buying the first bag of Dr Elsey's dry. She said that if the girls don't like it ( I told her how picky they are) they would take it back. Fortunately, they really like it. Especially Lilith and she's pickier about food than Sophie is. I would definitely ask Dr. Elsey's for samples though. I think they will also send some canned. The girls don't like the canned as much as they like the dry. It only comes it pates that I am aware of. I have to use a topper with the D.E. wet food.

My boys really love Farmina Boar and like the chicken and lamb flavors. They are not a huge fan of the fish variety. They will eat it, but don't inhale it like the boar. I haven't tried the venison yet.

I've also tried Dr. Elsey's and the boys eat it, and I think like it, but don't go crazy for it.

The girl kitten doesn't like any dry that I've tried offering.

My kittens have IBD. So dry food has been something I've had to figure out over the 4 months I've had them. They were on Instincts Raw Boost, but ate ALOT of it while still eating their 6oz of wet/Raw everyday. I felt it wasn't satiating. So I looked around the forum and ordered Dr. Elsey's. I ordered the 2 pound bag just in case it triggered them. Which I read the ingredients and found non. But wanted to be on the safe side. They seem to really enjoy this food and have been eating less of it than the other food. The higher protein has been keeping them fuller for longer. So I'll be ordering the larger bag once this one is near finished.

I'm a little late to the party here, but my vote is going to Farmina. I have two senior cats, one that is 17 years old and at stage 4 kidney failure. Farmina has been one of his favorites. Lower in carbs, easy to digest, high quality meats, I mean, what's not to love!

As for Orijen/Acana : In my opinion, it's way over hyped. They've been having a lot more issues with consistency/safety lately, and I don't like it.

If you're looking for an ethical brand (the most ethical on the market at the moment, or at least one of them) try out Open Farm. Easy to digest, high quality/ethical meats, every ingredient is traceable, bags are recyclable with the teracycle program, all in all, a huge winner in my house as well. 80-83% of the protein is animal based. They also have a delicious freeze dried formula, though you probably have to add some taurine. (OH they also have some can food!!!)
