I love your stories 1CatOverTheLine 1CatOverTheLine - your childhood sounded amazing.

We went for dinner at a pizza place I actually like since you can get pizzas without tomato sauce. Mine had a garlic/olive oil base with prosciutto, mozzarella and arugula. Yum.

I was so lazy today, but I needed it. And taking care of yourself is always positive.

Lari Lari - Prosciutto on a pizza? Sounds like a good idea! I've been using Calabrese Hot Salami and hot Italian Sausage these days (with stronger cheeses than Mozzarella), and it beats the heck out of pepperoni.

Autumn just refuses to go away here on Lake Ontario's south shore, where tomorrow is bringing temperatures back up near fifty. Mother Nature seems to have discovered a new use for Super Glue, since our recent windy weather's no match for some of the trees. Typically, at this time of year, we'd be under a blanket of sn*w.

;)

Nearly midway through November, under beautiful, bright skies:

My PAWSitive for today? We are alive, thanks god. And CA has been approved, however grudgingly, for federal funding. We will need it. We have more air support and ground support, which we also desperately need as the winds are picking up and expected to occur through at least Tuesday. I've been watching the local news and press conference all morning. Over 83,000 acres burned and 10% containment. On the Southern California fires alone. The northern one is bigger. Please pray for us.

Lari Lari --Arugula on pizza sounds good. I have to have my tomato sauce though.

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 --I'm a little rusty at praying, but I will give it a try for you tonight. Glad you are safe!

Nice pink tree (not sure what it's called) pic & I agree that sn*w is a swear word and should be bleeped.

Shane Kent Shane Kent --Where are you? Did you fall off the face of the earth? Don't make me write you a poem. ;)

foxxycat foxxycat --Positive: I found out the name of that classic car I like. "Ford Galaxie 500 Racer". I like the Nascar racer version better than the street version, so I guess my fantasy is to drive around in a race car. :D

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 - You - and the California forest fires - and especially the animals who inhabit the area - have been in my Prayers most of the Summer. I thank God that this area isn't prone to forest fires - other than my favourite long-lasting planting: Salvia coccinea "Forest Fire." I've always thought the cultivar name particularly objectionable because of the images it conjures up, but the nursery up on the lake had it in gallon pots some years ago near season's end at 4 for $12.00, and - still blooming - it was hard to resist.

salvianovember11.jpg

foxxycat foxxycat - do you still have any Salvia blooming at this point?

This is extreeeeeemely pawsitive. I thought I was down to work tomorrow but for some reason I checked my rota and behold, I'd booked it off weeks ago and forgot. Ha ha :biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:
mightyboosh mightyboosh - This happens to me all the time, except that it's more often than not, "I wonder what that is in the Tupperware container on the lower shelf of the fridge?"

Pawsitive: aside from the red of the Salvia, the burning bushes and Japanese Maple are likewise still holding their Autumn hues here.

According to time and date dot com, the first day of Spring is only 3,096 hours away!

1CatOverTheLine 1CatOverTheLine TYSM. I am grateful. We are not in any danger where we are, thanks god. But when I ask for Prayers for us, I mean my fellow residents of the state of California, where I was born and which I dearly love. Yeah, too bad about the name of that plant -- it is so beautiful! and I would buy it, too.
PushPurrCatPaws PushPurrCatPaws , IDK from arugula but kale is good. I love all greens I've ever tried except mustards, which I gladly offer my share to to anyone who wants them.
PAWSitive? Just fed the Three their lunch. It doesn't smell very strongly of smoke outside, so the wind is in our favor though not in others'. *HOLDING STRONG.*

1CatOverTheLine 1CatOverTheLine Sorry I don't recognize that plant. I will ask my coworkers this week if they have any, we have several gardeners who putter around.

It is very cold out. Real feel of 30. Says it's 37 but it's too cold for me but thats probably because I am wearing shorts and wore my thick bathrobe over it to step outside to take some pictures. The leaves have vamoosed on the burning bush and there's very few berries on it that usually on it but maybe the birds already ate them all?

A pawsitive is that I like most greens and would eat most anything. But then again I'm kind of a garbage disposal :lol2: Although I would pass on Asparagus. You all can have that stuff!

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 I have been prayering for all of you over there on the west coast. So very scary for all! Sending you hugs because what isn't pawsitive about hugs?!

An end of the day photo from the deck...I am so grateful for finding this hidden gem of a property years ago. Sorry it's sideways I can't get it to spin the right way.

Thanks to us talking about it, my positive is watching roundy-round stage 2 (go Martin Truex Jr, go the Busch's, go Joey Logano), watching national footall league games, (and a field goal kicker hitting the uprights FOUR times .... literally, honestly, actually !!!! ...they oughta give half a point if you hit a pole, seriously), watching it snow, drinking hot chocolate and last but most certainly not least, watching a sleeping cat :wavey:

foxxycat foxxycat - I'm afraid - at least here - that's the opposite of a Pawsitive. The Summer was so dry that many things - my Crab Apple, the pear trees and the apples - conserved all their energy to stay alive, and the tree fruit crop here was nearly as small as it's ever been. I think I had three Bosc pears, a handful of (very small) Winesap apples and a crab apple.

This goes along with feeding our wild Friends this Winter: if you can - and live in an area which supports considerable wildlife - try to remember everyone as best you can. After a Summer like this one in the Northeast, there'll be much less food available to them.

Pawsitive: my sweet corn neighbour always holds back his orchard run on common apples, and sells them at a few pennies a pound (2½ cents a pound on a thousand pounds or more) to his neighbours who feed the deer. They might get tired of apples come Spring time, but at least they won't starve. Lots of farm stands are glad to accommodate the local deer in this way (just ask them) - especially so since it helps to keep them from turning their orchards into Winter deer yards.

1CatOverTheLine 1CatOverTheLine I didn't think about that. It was unreasonably dry here. I think we can think of something to feed the critters soon as thr snow comes...don't want a bear in the backyard!

A pawsitive is Honeybee is snoozing on her pile of blankets while we are watching the movie The Descendants. It's a perfect thing to do on a cold night and Honeybee likes it when we pet her every once in awhile. Pumps is sleeping on her cushion in the library. I had her on the couch but she left. So now we have a Bee kitty to bug! :yess:

I spent Saturday and Sunday morning with some kitties. Saturday Karen and I hit a bunch of thrift stores. I found the MaggieDemi figurine.

MaggieDemiCat.JPG

It is a music box that plays Memory:) I will video it when I get a chance.

I got several other pieces on Saturday I will try to photo and post.

Today was kitties in the morning, flea market in the afternoon and went into work for a few hours.

Flea Market finds.

I got the following glass kitty and it was not cheap but it is in perfect condition.

The woman with the blue patterned cat did not have it with her today but had the following for me.

foxxycat foxxycat and Furballsmom Furballsmom and artiemom artiemom Thank you very much. The request is not for us personally, you understand, but for our beloved State and those in the affected zones, whatever their species.

Shane Kent Shane Kent Those are some of the finest yet! I especially love the first one and the glass one, which is indeed special. The first looks like it could be Elizabeth Arden? and it looks like you have some Beatrix Potters in there, too. All wonderful. And the art!:flail:
1CatOverTheLine 1CatOverTheLine How very thoughtful and kind of you. Something after my own heart. We'd buy rabbit pellet and put out full dishes of that in 2 locations, plus full bowls of fresh water for anyone (I still do the water here -- the birds and also raccoons utilize it) and several types of bird feeders. It is nice to help out those we share our earth with, and all the more so in changing climatic conditions. I've seen tweets reminding people of this vis-a-vis the fires. Many animals are forced to come down out of the mountains when their food and water sources are gone, and the more people build in THEIR habitat, the more often this happens. It certainly isn't the animals' fault. They are trying to survive.

artiemom artiemom YOUR news is just the happiest of all, and it keeps my spirits up knowing that you and Geoffrey are together now. My Big Blue Elvis has his chin on my left arm as I type. Awkward for me, but oh, so blissful for him AND me.:cloud9::petcat:

Yah, I know - but you're still dealing with the nasty air quality, and having to bear the emotions of knowing...

Positive, that I don' t have to drive anywhere in the morning because it's going to be very slick and icy out there. Thoughts for everyone who does have to drive in bad weather and fires no matter what :heartshape:

My positive is that my yard work is (finally) done for the year,, and I reassembled my snow blower after checking it over and lubing it, so it is ready to go for when the snow comes, and our kitchen is (mostly) back together. Two months of almost constant insanity are over. Hooray!
