My kitten was spayed on Wednesday and doesn’t act at all different. She is 12 weeks old and she and our one year old are very stressed out at being separated. They play so rough, I can’t keep them together, but they are driving us crazy, scratching and crying at the door.

If I watch closely, they can be together for short periods, but then they start wrestling, and I have to separate them. How long before they can play? The vet said five days, but he hasn’t seen them play!

Hi. Got nothing...sorry. Just let them be together when you can supervise, and then separate them when needed. Also, so they don't think it is a punishment, give each of them a treat right after separation. Two more days to go after today!!

I don't recall any particular issue when my cats were spayed, and my current cat, Feeby, actually got out the door on the day I brought her home and chased the living daylights out of another cat in the neighborhood. But, she is (as were my others) an only cat, so didn't have to worry about her playing too rough - after that one incident anyway! Never used a cone either.

Your cat is probably fine, but just to be on the safe side, you probably ought to follow the vet's advice!

I can't add a thing to what FeebysOwner FeebysOwner said. That's right on point. Let them have a little time together, but ONLY when you can monitor, and step in as soon as things start getting rough. Hang in there. It's almost over now!

Thank you for the replies. I guess I knew the answer, but it’s stressful to hear them meowing all day. I planned it so I could be home, but I have to go back on Monday. That will be the five days, but I doubt it will be completely healed, and I don’t want to leave them alone all day. I will keep her locked away then too. Can’t wait to have her all healed!

Its very hard, been there done that. I know my vet recommends 14 days as the time when they should be kept calm, no hard play, and dont let them lick. After the 14 days if there is no problems then they can do what ever they want :dancingblackcat:

Hang in there! It's kinda like being a mom, and your child is crying because they can't do something that might really hurt them, but BOY do you feel like the dickens for saying "NO!"
