Where my cats are
I've had a couple crazy dreams lately that were very amusing and I remembered them well enough when I woke up. I've been trying not to fall asleep on the couch as often because my dreams mix with reality too much there. But you know; cuddly kitties and all.

So the other night I fell asleep reading and characters from my book were coming in and out of my house by the front door. I remember saying "There must be a portal!" :flail: My book was not science-fiction at all. I don't read or watch that. So I don't know where my brain pulled out a portal! I also jumped up because I didn't want the cats getting out the front door they'd opened. Literally I jumped up. I don't know how many times I've dreamt the door was open and jumped up and ran over because it really looked open. Or I've seen fog rolling in my open front door. Or someone in the foyer. It's not a peaceful wake up. :headshake:

The other crazy dream wasn't so happy; but it was funny when I woke up. I'm desperate for a haircut and I have one scheduled. But in my dream I couldn't wait anymore so @Winchester told me she could do it. We've never met in person but in my dream poor Pam gave me an awful haircut and I was dramatically wailing "Why! Why didn't I just wait!" :crackup:Thats about where I woke up. Maybe that means I spend too much time on TCS? Not possible I know. :cool2: At least I didn't shout anything in DH's face. That's happened before. :paperbag:

I can't be the only one who dreams like this. Please share your funny ones!

I was thinking of starting a thread on this very subject.
This dream was years ago but I still remember it vividly.

I was in a forest at night. But this was no ordinary forest. It was very foggy with a full moon. The trees didn't have any leaves on them and the branches were clanking together. (Imagine an old werewolf or vampire movie).
I see something move up ahead, so I walk towards it. As I approach, but still some distance away, it moves behind a tree. I walk closer to get a better look. A shadowy figure darts from where I saw it over to another tree. I slowly approach, because now I'm real curious. As I am approaching the tree, I walk by another one.
Out jumps Elmer Fudd and says "Be very quiet, I'm hunting wabbits".

I started laughing so hard that I woke myself up. I have no idea where this dream came from. (I haven't watched Looney Toons since I was little)

A few years ago I had a dream about Auschwitz, but that was so real and so vivid that I still can't talk about it without breaking out in tears.

I just woke up from a nap. It wasn't too crazy, but I dreamed I went to the store to buy soda and all of the employees were staff from my school. They were even running it like school.

There's a playground area on the outskirts of town, and I once dreamed I went there late one evening just to swing to my heart's content.

I have reoccurring themes and events in my dreams, often with me remembering things that happened in other dreams with the same events and using the information in the new dream. For example, a couple of days ago I dreamt that I was at my grandmother's house looking out the window in towards a field. There were two people walking, which scared me because I know that there is a tiger that lives in the field. I got a small helicopter and went to save them; however, I could not find them. I did see the tiger. I remember thinking that I wanted to go swimming because if the tiger was near the house the lake was free.

The trouble was that I have to go through a cave entrance to get to the lake. The cave is run by some wildlife group who closes it when it gets too dark outside. I remember thinking that it was probably too dark and that the sapphires in the lake would too difficult to find. The tiger and the lake with sapphires have been in several dreams. This is the second dream that included the cave, and last time the workers would not let me through because it was too dark.

My grandmother's house--which is not really her house--has been in countless dreams. It has lots of rooms, but I always know that man claiming to be my grandfather is in the basement, that the house connects to another house and a shopping center, and that there are a butler and a maid who do not really do anything living on an upper floor with access to the attic. I try to avoid them because they ask riddles. One of the rooms goes outside and is surrounded in crumbling masonry. I avoid that too because a man once got smashed there.

M grandmother's house usually has a pool (in-dream only), but it is always too cold to swim in it. Sometimes the tiger is inside the house.

I also dream about my old house. In it, I am trying to pack my things because I need to get to my "real" house. Often, I am trying to catch my cats to take them with me. More often than not, my cats fit in the palm of my hand, and I have to pick them out of hundreds of cats. Sometimes my ex-husband's great-grandma is there. Once, she and my grandmother were talking and one reminded me that they are dead.

I have weird dreams often.

I think that means you need a vacation! :agree:

I was working in a medical office when they upgraded software. The old one was so archaic that there was no way to transfer patients so we had do it manually. I was spelling names in my sleep!!

I sometimes have lucid dreams where I know I am dreaming. It works out good if it's a nightmare because I'm able to make myself wake up!

My parents sold my childhood home in February and I have dreams nearly every night about that house and the new owners. I often dream that I'm living in the house and the new owners don't know it, or the new owners haven't moved in yet, or the new owners know that I'm living in it but they only come home when I'm at work. I suspect I keep dreaming about the house because I feel like I didn't get to say a proper goodbye to it. My parents lived there for 37 years, were the first owners of the house and I lived there for 28 of the 32 years I've been alive, so it's really the only home I've ever known.

In a not-so-sad crazy dream, I once dreamt I was eating a hamburger on the deck of my old house when a cow comes barrelling up the stairs, takes and then eats my hamburger. I remember saying in the dream, "Hmm, a cannibal cow..."

Cannibal cow!! That falls in the crazy category alright! :paranoid:

My mother would tell you she understands the dreaming about your old home thing. She does that regularly too. Her childhood home was sold a couple years ago. My grandparents also bought it and she and my aunt were brought home there after they were born. So that's a few years over 60 years of ownership. I miss the house too. I said my goodbyes and it really didn't feel the same without my grandparents there with me. But still.

I have recurring bad dreams with 3 themes:
1. We're moving into a house that's a "diamond in the rough" - gorgeous, expensive, will be wonderful but needs a LOT of work. (We've been residing the house for the past 2 summers)
2. Parents are dropping off children whose names I don't know, I don't know when they'll be picked up, how to get a hold of the parents, which child goes with which parent, and I'm over ratio. (My 9-5 is in-home child care.)
3. I wake up, get up to shower and get ready for the day. Then I wake up for real and have to do it all over again. (No idea where this comes from)
