Does My Cat Look Part Main Coon?

I'm thinking he might have an ancestry to the Main Coon. It looks like he might have 1/4 of this breed in him. I'm just speculating. What do you think ? He is 4 years old and loves to play Like a kitten still. He weighs 12 pounds and look at those features.....

Could be. Esp on the first pic with that quadratish muzzle. On the others pics his muzzle looks more triangular. Still -its possible.

How much does he weight at this moment as fully grown adult?

Last time I weighed him he was 12Lb. If he does have some Main Coon in him it would have to be a very small percentage. He looks just like his mom and aunt. He picked me out of 30 kittens. His mom and aunt had 15 kittens apiece on the same day.

Wow, that was many kittens at once! Two record holders simultaneously to share the record - of course, they were sisters, so the probability was higher than usual.

Is there any chance he may be part Norwegian Forest Cat instead??

Anyways, MCO were prebred from a natural stock. And this natural stock is still there around... That is why we have so many MCO - look alikes in the USA and Canada.
Reinforced perhaps with some German Longhair whom come with immigrants (I dont know if immigrants were allowed to have pets when the definition of immigrant become official, Ellis Island and such, you know).

I’d go with more of a Norwegian Forest Cat lookalike than a Maine Coon lookalike because of his triangular muzzle. He’s very handsome!

I never gave all of this to much thought. But I take really good care of him. He only gets the best and he gets my undivided attention on a regular basis. We live alone, just him and I. It has to be hard on him when I have to leave him alone all day while I'm at work for 9 hours everyday. I try to leave the windows open and the radio on for him to entertain himself. Should I get another cat for him to have company.?

It's really no big deal to me anyhow. It doesn't matter what he is we are good buddies. He keeps me such good company. He is always making me happy. He is a cheerful cat. When I was getting him the owner said I was taking the coolest one. He almost didn't let me pick him, but when you have 30 kittens to find a home for you can't be picky....lol

Getting another cat for him isn't a bad idea. But it is going to take some introduction and it would be only luck that they would become best friends and not just tolerate each other. A kitten perhaps could work. You would need to keep them apart for a few days or more to get used to each other. As long as you have the set up for that I say go for it.

Daytime he is prob sleeping. So he doesnt suffer. That said most cats enjoy a pal.

I regret that I didn't grab another kitten the day I got Peanut. I should have took one of his sister's for him to grow up and live with. Peanut has a personality that is very sociable and friendly. He takes to complete strangers like he has been around them before. He is very loving and playful. He only deserves the best. It's heartbreaking for me to have to deny him company and leave him alone when he just wants to be with me all the time. He follows me around like a puppy dog. I wish I could take him everywhere with me. It's the hardest part of my day; having to leave him behind while I go to work all day. I stay at home in the evenings to be with him. I have no social life. I can't bear the thought of leaving him alone at night in a dark apartment. I never thought I could care for an animal so much as I do for Peanut. I've had cats in the past but they were nothing like this cat. It's almost like he is a little person stuck inside a cats body. He is smart and can read me well. He listens to me when I tell him to do something. He is such a good cat.

I went to the Humane Society and got Taz an older step sister when he was about 6 months old. Zoe was 3 years old when we got her. She is a beautiful, well behaved little girl. I am so happy to have her.

While you are pondering that question, get a bird feeder and put it in the window for him to see. I did that for our cats....they love it!

Good idea, winter is getting close and I'm going to have to shut the windows and this will be a good thing for him and the birds. Thank you.
