I'm retired, so I have them delivered to home. My delivery people are good at putting the packages out of sight behind a large pot, and the mail carrier usually rings the bell, which I appreciate a lot. Smaller packages used to be placed behind the screen door, but a certain smart black cat figured out how to open doors, so it stays locked now. My neighbors look out for each other, too. Last week I had a Fedex delivery that I was expecting but couldn't see without opening the screen door, and TWO neighbors called to tell me it was there.

I'm home a lot so I just send them here. My mother has stuff sent here; but she also has me do most of her online shopping anyway. A couple years ago she had a very sucessful Pampered Chef party and everything was sent to my house. It looked like Christmas times 10. My foyer was full of boxes I couldn't open. :alright:

I know if you have something stolen; they will make you start signing for packages because people submit false claims. But we've never had an issue. I do think it helps to have something so they are less visible from the road. Right now my flowers hide things a bit. I also don't live on a road where people walk often; so someone approaching my door would be odd. I used to have an old busybody across the street but he passed away. His family still lives there and there is often someone outside. So again; they'd likely be noticed.

I like the idea of the Ring doorbell or just having a security camera out front. I don't like to answer the door unless I know who it is. And the way our house is set up it's hard to get a good look at the door without peeking out it. If I'm not going to answer the door; I don't want to advertise that I'm here hiding from the pamphlet people. :p

I have my deliveries sent to my house--haven't had a problem. Although, if it's USPS, sometimes it is delivered to the wrong house (this happened recently), but the guy who lived at the house that got my package (he lives one block over) came to my house to give me the package.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. FedEx has been delivering my packages to the wrong house for many years now. Finally one day I had a meltdown & gave them what for. Now I am on a first name basis with my driver and he definitely knows where I live now. :D

When I lived in town I was constantly getting UPS and FedEx parcels for the person with the same house number 2 streets away (OK, the USPS carrier probably would have done it too, but I worked at that PO and intercepted all my parcels, lol). I can understand that, but it was kind of annoying. I always just ran them 2 blocks over and put them on their porch.

Now that I live in the country, I rarely get someone else's parcels, but once I got one for a very similar number but about 12 miles away. I probably would have run it over there myself, but it was an overnight and said it was perishable, and I was on my lunch break, so I called FedEx to come get it. He must have, because it was gone when I got home from work. Hope its little trip didn't spoil it. And I haven't gotten anyone else's parcels since then.

Delivery services leave the package in my carport, usually. Sometimes they leave it at the front door or at my neighbor's. :headshake: I have never had a package stolen in over 30 years. I live on a dead end dirt road and we don't have strangers coming through. I left a few dollars in an obvious place in my carport for years. It never disappeared.

When I first moved here, the post office would leave a slip in my mailbox if they had a package too big for my mailbox out by the road, 600 feet from my house. I could fill out the slip, they would get it the next day and they would bring the package back and leave it at the house a few days later. It was not fun having to drive 15 miles to get the package if it was something I needed right away. My next door neighbor was a postman and he got this straightened out for me. Now the postperson leaves packages in my carport. :D

i have packages delivered to my home, unless it needs to go through USPS. i keep an eye out for them, until they're delivered. nothing has been stolen (yet :crossfingers: ), but once an item was quite damaged (bent badly, and the company sent a replacement). :dunno:
