I propose an intervention.
Find him a shelter like experience where if he doesn’t eat what is there he doesn’t eat.
Board him if you want, whatever it takes.

I'm disappointed in the LID line because they recently started adding pea protein. Before they had whole peas which were easy to take out. I refuse to pay that much money for that kind of product. It's one of the priciest out there!

I haven't been able to find vital essentials for a reasonable price online lately. So i had to go into the neighborhood cat specialty store and get some rad cat turkey. I hope my cat likes it! He doesn't like primal frozen anymore and will get tired of freezed dried primal if i don't switch it up.
I agree. It’s disappointingly expensive for what it is, and I feed the “ultimate protein” kind because my cats won’t eat the LID. And it’s even more expensive...

+1 about the LID. I fed Sylvie the duck LID every day for years, until the vomiting/diarrhea episode a couple of months ago. I realized the recipe now included not only peas, which she used to just nudge to the perimeter of her dish, but also pea protein -- as the third listed ingredient.

Today I visited a local pet-food store to buy a variety of foods for Sylvie to try, since she seems to have gotten bored with the current rotation (!). I included a can each of Instinct lamb and Instinct venison, in the Original formula, which includes peas (and carrots) but not pea protein. So at least the offending peas can be easily fished out or pushed aside.

In other exciting cat-food exploration news , I also bought a can each of Fromm lamb pate, Dave's turkey & turkey liver pate, and Redbarn beef stew. First time trying each of these brands, so I'm interested to see how they will be received.

I also bought small bags of Stella & Chewy's turkey and rabbit. Sylvie likes the Duck Duck Goose, so I'm hoping she will enjoy these too.

And tonight I fed her the Rawz turkey. She has been "meh" lately about the beef, but devoured the turkey, spent some time licking her chops, and is now contentedly doing her clean-up routine. Yay! :yess:

I really encourage you guys to write to them about your disatifaction. I did. They need to know that they're not fooling anyone and that we'll let them know with our wallets!

Our picky cat loves the Fromm turkey, I think it is, the one with the green label. It's one of her favorites and I don't quite understand why since it doesn't seem like there's anything so different about it! (It looks like bologna!)

The lamb has a green label. The turkey has a brown label, if this is the one you're thinking of (they have a few turkey-based varieties). Maybe your picky cat likes barley? Or tomato paste?

I'd like to try Dr Else's or IALAY....but we don't have them in Canada (that I can find). Kaia really likes the Wellness kitten pate, and no issues with that so far. She's not as big of a fan of the pieces in gravy, but will eat it. At this point she seems to like pate better. I bought one can of Tiki cat for when she's a bit older...but I don't know how she'll feel about it since she likes pate better right now. I'm sure that will change, and then change again...and again....lol

I've usually used the same brand of cat food, can anyone recommend a good brand my cats could try? Thanks!

I recently ordered a 4-oz bag of Northwest Naturals turkey from Amazon; I've been wanting to try this brand for a while, and I had enough reward points from my Amazon credit card that it cost me something like 77 cents.

I served it to Sylvie for the first time this morning at 5:15, starting with a small amount in case she didn't love it. Then I went back to bed. The next thing I knew, she was standing in the bedroom doorway and loudly squawking at me. She had eaten it all, licked the bowl clean, and was demanding more! I fed her another small amount and she again gobbled it up. I just gave her a little more for lunch and the scenario was repeated.

We have a winner!! :woohoo: Time to order a larger bag, because this one won't last long!

Glad to hear it! Northwest Naturals is very decent food, Sylvie's a smart cat!

I know your girls love it, and I was hoping she would too! So pleased that she does.
After your post, I fed them a slightly different blend of Primal turkey, Northwest Naturals turkey, and Feline Natural chicken/lamb: there was more NW than usual, plus the usual chicken Pure Bite dust on top with a bit of Stella & Chewy turkey, too. Yes, we have a lot on hand -- I think it's the varied blends that keep the cats (particularly Ireland, the lynx mix) eating freeze-dried after three or four years!

Wow -- your kitties don't have any issues with mixing Primal, NWN, FN and SC together? They are all pretty high bone and phos except for FN chick/ lamb, glad it's working out for you...

I'm actually thinking of NWN turkey for one of Molly's meals as she can handle higher bone diets. I tried contacting the company last week though re phosphorus but their phone just rang off the hook. I think another post of yours mentioned 1.6 phosphorus for NWN turkey?

Thanks. :)

No, they love those blends -- and I'm not sure how I'd feed them without mixing since they tend to get bored with their food pretty easily. As long as they're fed all animal-based food, they seem to do very well.

The Northwest Naturals turkey is 1.7 dry matter phosphorus; the chicken is 1.2 and I sometimes use that. The cats get more Primal than all the other foods combined (particularly Stella & Chewy's, which is just a garnish) but I don't remember how their phosphorus comes out for their turkey and pork. (I think I used to know them (maybe back when Dr. Pierson had Primal listed on her charts?) and wasn't too concerned.)

The bone and phosphorus in the freeze-dried foods is offset to some extent by homemade and Rad Cat, as well as some of the canned foods on the menu. I'm not too concerned about it for now but the cats are five, going on six, so I will be looking to taper off the phosphorus a little.

I get a lot of emails from chewy :) got one today about Tiny Tiger, i guess a new wet they have? my guys are not fans of pate, but for any that feed pate it looks very much like fancy feast, ingredient wise. And they have 50% off the first case. might be worth a look.:p
