Given recent disasters (Hurricane Florence, gas explosions), I thought I'd post this AVMA booklet for everyone to have: AVMA Store - Product It's a free download.

A Spanish language version is available at AVMA Store - Product

You can ask your vet, rescue, shelter, etc to order a box of booklets to give out to pet owners.

It has lots of good info on what to have for a "grab and go" emergency kit for your pet, first aid, what to do during and after the emergency, etc.

Great resource, picked up a couple of things we had not though of before.

We keep a couple of months of food and medical supplies on hand for us and the cats. We have carriers, water, cash, weapons/ammunition, maps etc. But I never thought about having large enough carriers for the cats to sleep in or keeping their medical records handy. I also never though about making sure the neighbors have access to the codes and keys for our home if we couldn't get back for some reason.
