So I found this kitten on Craigslist and I think she may be a Nebelung. When I picked her up the mother looked like a Blue Russian but the owner couldn't confirm. I've been looking up some cat breeds online and a Nebelung is what she resembles the most. Either way she is a beautiful kitten!! Check out the pics and tell me what you think.

First of all Nebelungs are extremely rare. Secondly if the mother was a Russian Blue and the father was unknown, the kitten couldn't possibly be an entirely different breed. Thirdly, unless the cats came from a breeder, the chance that the mother was a purebred Russian Blue is pretty darn rare too. Many short haired cats "resemble" purebreds and majority of them are not. Just because a cat is color pointed doesn't make it purebred Siamese. See what I mean? It was probably just a solid gray cat. On the off chance it was a purebred Russian Blue, without papers you would call yours a Domestic long hair blue or gray cat. When she grows up you will see if the coat length or color starts to show up or if any tabby striping appears. She is a cutie!

I would describe her as a blue Domestic Longhair. Since you don’t know the breeds of the parents, she would automatically be considered a Domestic Longhair. She is stunning, though, and could very well end up as a Nebelung lookalike. You could also call her a Maltese cat, which is another name for a blue cat of indeterminate breed.

What a sweety!

She looks like what my boys may have been as kittens.

And she might turn into what my guys look like now!
They are gorgeous, I hope mine looks like that!!

I have wondered if ours were nebelungs becahse the former owner said they were russian blues. I could see the cats werent entirely blue Russian blues and many pics of nebelungs looked like my cats. That was until their coats filled out in the winter and they grew to 20 and 22 lbs.

Like yours, they are probably blue long haired domestics........

Boy that pic of your kitty on her back is SOOOOOOO cute! I dont have any kitten pics of mine as we adopted them at 1 and a half years old. So I have to imagine.
