About 6mos ago she got bit by a cat (she was mostly indoor, but would like to spend a few hours on the porch sometimes). It completely shattered a bone in her foot and got infected. We took her to the vet the next day and since she's been on various medication.

It went away for about a month but popped up again about a month ago. At that point the very removed her toe thinking that would help the infection go away (it hadn't healed well). It almost went away, but now it's swollen and infected again. We're washing it daily to get pus out and encourage draining (what our very told us to do), but just very frustrated.

I'm just wondering if anyone has ever dealt with this and what helped.

I never have, but sounds like she may need an aggressive round of antibiotics? What does the vet say about this?

I agree that more aggressive antibiotics might be the answer. Has your vet taken a culture of the infection, to determine which strain it is? Not all antibiotics work on all infections, so testing to find out what you're dealing with can make a huge difference to successful treatment.

It sounds like this is a particularly virulent infection, and my worry at this point would be whether it's spread into the bone itself. Your best bet is to go back to you vet, or even maybe get a second opinion. Sometimes a fresh pair of eyes or a fresh approach can make all the difference ;)

Cat bites are notoriously prone to pretty nasty infections, and they can be stubborn to treat, especially when the infection has been able to take hold to this degree. I think I'd be pushing for more aggressive, infection specific antibiotics at this point. I hope your girl is fully recovered soon :crossfingers::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:
