Do Your Cats Sleep In Bed With You?

My cats do but I'm starting to rethink the idea. They keep waking us up at 5am or earlier with their playing (they like to start wrestling each other in the bed or clawing/biting at our hair) and I don't have to get up for another 45 minutes at that point. It's incredibly frustrating. I also leave for work at 7 so I do have to feed them in the morning, which is why I think they've gotten into the habit.

Any tips? Should I shut them out of the bedroom? I love letting them sleep with me... but they're making me lose sleep.

Swanie sleeps in the bed. Not only in the bed, but he has taken to sleeping on my pillow with me. Swanie is a big cat (24 lbs, not just fat, big).

Cricket gets on for a few minutes then she gets off.

Toffee and Fudge aren't allowed in my bedroom since my goldfish also lives there, so they don't sleep in my bed with me.
If they're making you lose a lot of sleep, perhaps try closing your door and see how they respond (whilst they're about to go up to your room). We always close the door with Toffee and Fudge and they soon leave the area.

How old are your cats? If they are relatively young, they may get over the early morning aggravation as they age. If they are pretty young, they may also learn routines over time. I know my cats did; they actually came to learn weekdays vs. weekends and would act accordingly, knowing no one in our house gets up as early on weekends as they do weekdays.

mine do sleep with me, off and on all night. they will wake me up occasionally, playing or wanting cuddle. But i have gotten use to it, and normally i dont really wake up, just cuddle and go back to sleep. My husband sleeps through all of it, he never wakes up

My cats sleep with me most of the time, but not all the time. Whether they do or not, they have gotten used to my routine. I have to take a pill, then wait 30 minutes to get up, so I have a two-alarm clock. They come in the room or wake up when the first one goes off, then start playing and bouncing on the bed when the second one goes off. There's no sleeping for anyone after that.

My cats don't sleep with me, they sleep with one of my sons most of the time. There are nights that he works and they seem to know the schedule. No one wakes me but I am up early most of the time anyway. I have always fed them after my shower so they associate that with feeding time rather than my waking time.

Sometimes and only some of them. Tara spends about 15 minutes rolling around in my hair and headbutting me before getting down. Astrid makes my husband pet her every night. She waits for him to pull his blanket up and then sits on him. That lasts about 10 minutes. She then either gets under the blanket with me, hops down, or goes near our feet. Every once in a while, Fennimore will sleep near my feet. The rest do not usually get in bed with us. Thankfully, they let us sleep for the most part. The only time there is an issue is when their food dish is low. It is then that Simon comes to tell me he is starving to death.

Mine are allowed in the bed. There are always disturbances, like the other day Hugo managed to get past the fireplace screen and basically rolled in soot and then jumped in bed with me at 2am. He's normally pretty good most nights about picking a corner of the bed and just sleeping there for a few hours per night and he usually doesn't wake me up.

Ferro only likes to sleep in the bed when it's chilly but he does butt in under the covers and wake me up a lot when he does it.

Yes, cat in the bed. She is very quiet BUT she likes to sleep on the side of the bed that I face. So if I turn, she goes to the other side. Problem being rather than walking on me or around me to get there she leaps over me and this cat is anything but light in her feet. So throughout the night I am awakened by her thud and bounce on the mattress.

When I first adopted Ruby she would come in and wake me every morning an hour or so before it was time for me to get up. Eventually I became sleep deprived, and I started putting her out of the room and closing the door when she woke me. After a while, she got the hint, and stopped waking me before my alarm.

These days she sometimes sleeps on the bed with me. And once winter comes and the house is cool at night, she'll probably be back to crawling under the covers and snuggling right beside me.

Trin is a bed cat. He prefers to sleep on the blanket between me and the BF ... BF often complains he has no space, lol. Trin will get up and move around when I get in bed, so I never have a problem.

Gohan only gets in bed for cuddles. He sleeps in his heated kitty throne. Olive sleeps downstairs, she isn’t comfortable in the bedroom yet. We usually discover her under the bed when we wake up. Somehow they never seem to bother us when we are sleeping, if the food bowl runs low, though, Gohan starts “hunting” anything loud and crinkly so we wake up.

When George and Louie came home, we didn’t allow them to go in our room. They had each other so they really were good not to bother us at night. After George died we have been letting Louie sleep with us. We completely IGNORED any fussing or attempts to get our attention at anytime between bedtime and when I wanted to get up in the morning. He has settled down and doesn’t bother us at all. Once Newman comes home and gets settled then we may, once again, close the kitties out of our room at night as they will have each other for company.

LOL they think it is their bed! That said if they wake you up kick them out and ignore them until your normal wake up time. Expect them to be obnoxiously meowing and rattling your door. Do not crack. If you crack, they will never learn to let you sleep. I suggest running a fan to block out the noise and if you can locking them into a cat room, so you have two doors between you. I prefer to train one cat at a time.

My cat sleeps on my bed all day but usually sleeps on the couch at night because I'm a restless sleeper. She's gotten accidentally kicked off the bed far too many times. I used to allow her to sleep on the pillow next to me but she's gotten less tolerant of suddenly being touched when I roll over and she lashes out. Her bedtime pillow rights were revoked. During winter she spends the beginning of the night under the blanket but bails as soon as I start moving.

Lelia used to sleep with me, at least for a bit, every night when it was just the two of us in the old apartment. Now that we're in the bigger place with another cat and the bf, the cats only come in sometimes.

However, it has been summer. We'll see if they come to bed more once it cools off.

Mine sleep with me ... the only problem is that one of them has figured out how to turn on my bedside lamp and does that when she thinks I have slept long enough (she's mistaken, though, so I just turn the light off and grab her for a cuddle until I get back to sleep). Purr is a great sleep aid.

They both do at certain times. Stevie usually does around this time while I'm lounging in bed on my laptop (although naturally right now she isn't with me!), and Gizmo will join me after their 3am feeding. I don't currently work so it certainly helps to allow me to stick to their routine. They both usually wake me up by wrestling right next to me in the morning but it works out since it tends to be around the time I wake up anyway.

Last night,I was laying on my back with Peaches sleeping on my legs. I sit up to scratch my knee then Peaches jumps up and gives a loud hiss! When I went to bed, Peaches was already on it. She growled and hissed until I settled down. Who is the owner of my bed? Is it impossible to get a cat like her to accept me as the owner of my apt,not her?
