So we went to a kill shelter and I adopted the sickest cat of course.
She had an upper respiratory infection, ear mites and we later discovered Giardia.
Tulip was estimated to be between 6 and 8 months and was severely under weight at about 4lbs. Now shes over 6 lbs, jo more coughing no runny eyes. But I'm LOSING MY MIND WITH GIARDIA.
She infected our other cat.
Theyve been through one treatment now of the oral liquid which didnt work.
The second time it was liquid and panacur which was 3 days worth and all of whi j we finished medication 4 days agi.
Our older cat Bagheera seems symptom free. Firm stool, no smell.
Tulip however seems to be getting worse. Her stool is turning total liquid and is becoming lighter in color and just reeks.
What we are doing so far:
-both cats are separated in their own large dog crate
- litter pans are changed 2x per day using trashbags to easily dispose of all used litter and the pan gets sanitized each time with lysol
-we vacuum and lysol the crate 1 to 2x per day
-they each have a cat bed that we wrap in a t shirt that we change daily
-water bucket thing gets changed daily
-food plate gets changed multiple times a day
-they have e collars on when not being fed
Weve now given them both 2 baths this round of treatnent.
But tulip just liquid pottied and got it all over he legs and butt and I feel hopeless.
We do let them out to wander and play in the garage area but not together.
I cant figure out why tulip is getting worse. And I cant seem to keep her clean and giving her a bath is a nightmare and I get covered in scratches.
Tomorrow I take their stool in for more samples and medication.
I'm exhausted. I'm tired of cleaning. I tried to do a good thing and it's taking the life from me! And its SO EXPENSIVE. HELP
