So when i got Iris, she was underweight. She doesnt look too bad because of all the fur, but i was kind of shocked once i started lifting her and petting her. You can feel a lot of bones under there and she is light as a feather. She does not like or eat the cheap food her previous owners said she eats, so at first i thought thats why she is so skinny. I started feeding her a brand of kitten food that my other cat really enjoyed as a kitten in hopes she would put on some weight from it. She really liked the food and was meowing and begging for food every meal time. She doesnt however finish her bowl - ever. I weighed her after feeding her this food for about a week and a half (?) and she weighs 3,1. My other cat who is roughly the same size weighs 4,1. I waited another week after the kitten food diet plus some really delicious filéts in sauce which i could tell she really enjoyed (but still never finishes), she still weighs 3,1. Now she has also developed a weird eating issue where she sometimes wont eat unless i scoop out a few food pieces at a time and feed it to her on the ground.
Anyone got any clue what to do?

I have no idea, but many times not eating is a sign of an underlying medical problem.
Yeah, i might have to go get her checked out. Its getting really weird. Also she really gobbles the first half of the bowl up, but leaves the rest. I really dont get it. I just weighed her and she weighs 3,0 now. She lost that 0,1.

Not eating and losing weight are definitely signs that something is up. I would definitely bring her in and get a blood work panel done on her. The sooner the better in my opinion!

Is it possible to find another vet to take her to? If not then I would look at buying different types of kitten foods, kitten replacement milk and tuna. If she still refuses to eat, you’ll need to force feed her. A 10 cc syringe is what I used and I would mix soft pate food with kitten replacement milk (that has nutrients and calories). Keeping calories in her is important.

How old is Iris? How long has been with you? Does she look ill? And diarrhea or vomiting? She may just be a thin cat. My Samson is long and tall but weighs only 8 lbs (3.6 kg) and always has, although he is healthy. He is also fluffy (like Iris?) so you don't see it, but he is bony when you pick him up.

Since Iris seems to be new to you, a vet visit is definitely in order, if only to get a baseline, but I wouldn't sweat it if everything else seems fine. 0.1 kg is the weight of a good poop, I would not worry about that unless it's a trend.

Good luck and please let us know about Iris' vet visit.

Yeah if she stops eating completely im gonna have to force feed her. She is still eating - its just that she isnt eating as much as she should. Im gonna try the kitten milk thing and see if she prefers to eat some kitten wet food.

I have had her for about a month now. She seemed to have settled in fine though and this has been the only real issue since she is getting along fine with my other cat now.
She really does seem to be sleeping more often now as i think about it as well. I tried playing with her using the laser pointer - she usually loves it, but this is the second day in a row where she wont play. I did see her playfight with Jussi earlier in the morning, but thats the only time she has been active today. Otherwise poop is looking fine, no vomiting. She had trouble opening one of her eyes in the morning, but its looking fine now. No swelling or redness.
