I have a cat who is MAJORLY picky, she won’t eat anything out of a can, the foods similar to canned food that she will touch are fancy feast broths and delectables (bisque). I want her to eat more wet food. Since the pouches I mentioned above are only complementary to a cats diet, do you have any similar recommendations that are completely balanced and would count as a meal. Not a treat? My cat absolutely loves these. I don’t know what magic spell they put on these but I’m at a loss for why she loves these, but won’t touch any food from a can (even if it’s in gravy!). She mostly licks the broth from fancy feast broths, than eats the chunks of fish later. Any recommendations would be awesome!

Hi! Welcome!! I love your avatar photo by the way!

So I'm assuming you've tried the cans of fancy feast, purina muse and purina one true instinct?
Here's a database you could take a look at, and also there's Merrick Backcountry pouch food, Tiki Cat has pouch food as does Natural Balance and there are probably others, those are the ones I have for my Big Guy at the moment.

Thank you for your response! I’ve tried fancy feast canned foods, medleys, gravys. Sheba, Meow mix, TOTW, she smells them and then tried to bury them like she’s disgusted haha! I’m gonna just have to keep trying, I’ve read on here others blending their cats food and adding water to get the cats To eat the meat chunks and not just lick the gravy. I did that this morning to a fancy feast broth and she smelled it and wouldn’t touch it. She is difficult! I’m going to have to get every cat food under the sun to get her to like something. At least I have a feral colony I’m feeding so the food won’t go to waste lol. Idk why the ferals with eat anything, but my inside cats are dang princesses.

Isn't that the truth? I've read that time and again that the ferals are more than happy with whatever LOL
My boy is the same, though - it's a serious challenge to find what it is he wants.
Hang in there!!

I think Furballsmom Furballsmom 's suggestion of Tiki (available at Petco) is a good one. Another similar brand would be Weruva as well as its sister company Soulistic. (Soulistic's only available at Petco and Weruva's only available at independent and smaller chain stores.) Weruva's site has photos of the food so it's easy to see what they look like.

Good luck! Cats can be so picky!

Mine really like natural balance platefuls. They come in packets with gravy. Their favorite is the chicken and giblets but they make several varieties ( fish and non fish). They are pretty inexpensive imo. I give it to my piggies ( my cats eat a lot ) every once in a while since they are a little high in carbohydrates for my liking. Good luck. Keep trying and experimenting. You’ll find one !:goodluck:

my guys like the ff broths too, shreds of meat and the broth. The closest ones i feed to that are Tiki cat, the chicken, chicken and egg, and the chicken and salmon. They also like almo nature chicken and green beans, and the chicken and carrots. Weruva paw lickin chicken. soulistic aromatic chicken in gelee. against the grain chicken and pumpkin, and fussie cat. all of these are the real shreds of chicken. Tiki has a very thin water type broth, the others are a bit thicker, and the soulistic is a thicker gell, weird, but my guys like it :dizzy: most of the time

Solid gold also has purée pouches for cat food and I do believe they’re complete foods. You’d have to double check to be sure. They have everything from chicken turkey tuna beef etc.
you will soon be able to purchase weruva at Petco along side soulistic so if a Petco is close to you they will soon have all four, tiki, soulistic, weruva, and solid gold pouches.

That’s awesome to hear Petco will be carrying those brands soon. I’m very interested in trying tiki, from the photos it looks like their foods have a good amount of broth with shredded meats. The suggestions are fab. Thank you! Going to take a trip to Petco tomorrow for new foods to try! Hoping she likes something! Haha

Try Weruva, Soulistic, and Tiki Cat. Soulistc and Weruva are made by the same company and the brands are nearly identical. Soulistic is the lesser expensive brand and sold at Petco stores.

Wholehearted which is Petco’s brand has a similar option. They have the broth pouches but I get the canned chicken flakes in gravy. It’s in an orange can and it has finely shredded pieces of chicken and lots of gravy. It’s more watery than thick but the can has lots of liquid in it. I haven’t used the pouch to compare though.
