Oh I know exactly what you mean. I plan life around medication routines for the girls to a certain extent. I can only tweak so much. Fortunately I found another good sitter who is reasonable and flexible; but I still need notice for that. What's the saying about farmers? Most people work 9-5 but farmers work 5-9. Even small hobby farms are like that from what I've seen at my mother's friends.

Sometimes people think just because I homeschool my kids that we have tons of free time. I might take DS for a haircut at 1pm ever 6-8 weeks; but that doesn't mean we can just drop school "whenever" to go to x, y, or z. I might be "home" doing it; but this is my job. I *might* be able to babysit for someone. Thankfully no one has asked me to take their sick kid so they can work. I live too far out of the way for that. ;)
Isn't that insanely amazing?
"Oh, you home school, which means you do nothing" = uh, NO. It means I do EVERYTHING.
Ranch life is 5-9 but thank God for good hands that help us. I can't imagine juggling my life AND home schooling kids, and trying to nicely talk to folks that think we just sit back, play with kids all day and ride horsies for fun.
No offense to anyone reading but that is SO not the case!! =)

I am a very relaxed planner. I love to plan in fact, but that doesn't mean I'll actually do it. On Saturdays (my Friday) I usually will put together a list of things I want or need to do during my weekend and usually I do most of the things. When I plan trips, I will do a day-by-day itinerary but then when I end up getting to my destination, things happen, like I'm tired and don't want to do this one thing or this one place is busier than I expected, then I'll reevaluate and change things up.

Having actually been an on-site caretaker at a riding school with 12 horses, PLUS the Arabian stud and his comings and goings, plus various dogs and barn cats, AND having (at that time) two children under 2 years old, I am SO in touch! We were there for almost two years and I think I managed to get on a horse twice. MAYBE three times.

I'm definitely a planner (and control freak)! I stress out if I don't have any plan, and feel most comfortable if I've got at least 1 back-up plan - but 2 is better.

I'm generally more of a planner, I like making lists and organising things. Especially when it comes to days out, I like to know of a definite schedule and timings (particularly if I'm on holiday I like to know what day I'm doing each activity or seeing each site because I get worried if things aren't planned). It just makes me feel more at ease!
