Hi,
My cat just completed her fifth and final chemotherapy session about 3 weeks ago after developing mammary cancer. She's been looking quite skinny and she's been very picky with her food, so her vet prescribed Mirtazapine, given that the previously prescribed Ondansetron wasn't having any effect on her appetite. She was also prescribed Metronidazole to prevent diarrhea during chemo, but I never had reason to use it the whole time she was in treatment.
I had been holding off on dosing her with the Mirt since I know my way quite well around antidepressants and didn't want to give this to my cat. However, she was hardly eating, so yesterday I caved and gave her 1.88mg at around 3:30 PM.
Since then, she's been great! She's been eating heartily and I was quite encouraged. However, just 30 minutes ago, an entire 30 hours later she threw up quite a bit. Plus, she's been having really soft, watery stool all day that just turned into diarrhea.
She's still asking for food but at this point, I'm afraid it'll just make her throw up more. Should I try dosing her with the metronidazole at least to prevent diarrhea? I don't know if I should dose her with Ondansetron to help with the vomiting - I thought the Mirtazapine was already an anti-emetic.
I'm at my wit's end here, what do I do?!
