The thing that worry's me about the gravy lovers is how low calorie it is. Most of the gravy lovers has less than 30 calories per can. for my guys that would take about 7 or 8 cans each. That and the high carbs. :(
Carbs are high in calories, so the Gravy Lovers can't be high in carbs and low in calories at the same time.

That aside, Mingo has been throwing up several times a week recently. I've long known he couldn't tolerate fish, so he's only getting poultry and beef. He is exactly like the posters on that review site. He seems to keep Sheba pate down, but not Gravy Lovers or FF classics. One night, he threw up an entire day's food - including breakfast, which was kibble. It seems like he's not able to digest anything, and when his stomach gets full, up it comes.

I have one that cannot eat more than two bites first thing in the morning, or she will vomit it all back up. She usually backs away in time and then goes back for more as the day goes on. But if she is especially hungry and I do not get to her in time, down it goes and then up it comes....

maybe the chewy site is wrong, i dont know, one place shows the chicken feast gravy lovers 22.59 kcal/can another place i just looked shows 68 kcal/can. I am betting the 68 is correct? and the protein is only 9% with 2 % fat, which means the carbs are a bit on the higher side. But i still consider this a lower calorie can of food, if compared against the classics at 94/98 calories with 11% protein and 5% fat. Or at least what i consider higher carb. Not saying its a bad food, i just wish it had more protein, a few more calories, and less carbs, but it it works for the cats, it works :)
The food i feed most of the time has 17% protein, and 2.0% fat, with 70 calories per can, and i consider it a lower calorie food as well as lower fat. Fat adds the most calories to a food, at a hefty 9 calories per gram. Protein and carbs both come in at 4.

The first time I fed my Ragdolls Fancy Feast to save money, they both got sick. Both of their poo had a pancake batter consistency and smelled to high heavens. I switched back to the expensive stuff.

I believe that. It is hard to change foods. If I am introducing a new food, I try to give half and half for a few days because I know there will be tummy trouble otherwise.

I just found little bits of what I think is cartilage in the FF Beef feast Classic I recently. This is the second time in 6 months or so.

This is why I don't like foods with unspecified meats in them "meat byproduct, animal digest" are both ingredients in this food that can basically allow them to add any kind of meat without the knowledge of the consumer it could even be road kill for all we know. (probably not but you get the idea) any pet owner knows a sudden change of food can cause stomach upset and this allws
the company to do this without the knowledge of the consumer.

Nestle who makes the food only cares about money and has cut corners in the past.

Hi IndyJones, thanks for the pos. My friend said that maybe they've always included cartilage but that this particular batch wasn't ground up as well.

I dleetd the rest of this post because it unknowingly referred to something dealt with in another thread.

For years, I fed my four on Fancy Feast pate. Believe me, I tried EVERYTHING else. Then, about two months ago, they started turning up noses at the food they used to love. I have one 16 year old and one seven year old with a sensitive tummy. They both started throwing up. My youngest two did not throw up, but would walk away from it, even with toppers. I started having to throw at least half the food I fed them away.

The list of flavors they would eat grew smaller and smaller until just recently, they refuse it all now. Thank goodness they like Friskies. All the flavors of Friskies pates for now. I am also going to experiment with Dr Elsey’s dry.

I spent a lot of money on cat food, given cases of it to a neighbor who feed some ferals and am so unhappy with Fancy Feast. I thougth I had two flavors they would still eat for one meal a day, but now.....more cases to go to the ferals.

I decided to do some research and found this site that shows I am not the only one...... Why on earth do they do this? Cost? They have to be losing money...so many of us are not buying anymore.

I think the issue here is that it is making animals sick in which case continuing to give it will make them sick.

I also mentioned in another post this nestle Purina company that makes it uses ingredients from China where safety is either lax or non existent. This is the same company that sells the treats that are making dogs sick.

Mine get FF daily (for years) and I have had no issues. I buy the pate classics (orange box), seafood pate (blue box) and the sliced meats (purple box).

I have been feeding the Fancy Feast pate (chicken, beef, and turkey), but I notice they now have FISH listed among the ingredients! I'm trying to keep my girl on just meat (advocated by Dr. Lisa Pierson). Anyone know of a similar food that's all meat? She is a fussy eater, so it may be difficult to transition her.

There' s limited ingredient foods out there now. Perfomatrin is a good food if you have petvalu in your area. They have turkey, chicken, lamb and chicken, beef, beef and liver

As far as I know, fish has been an ingredient in those specific flavors for quite some time... at least, they have been since I switched my cat to wet food about a year ago...
When I buy FF, I always get this variety pack...
Poultry & Beef Wet Cat Food 30 Variety Pack | Fancy Feast®
Only 1 of the 3 flavors in this pack contains fish.
