Need a decent cat food for my 2 Seniors, right now they are eating Fancy Feast, was eating Friskies. If there is something better and not break the bank, but decent food I would be ever so grateful.

Thank you

Fancy Feast pâtés are not bad. Once he reached about 17, that’s all my diabetic Max would eat, so that’s what I gave him. I lost him at 20 last summer and near the end I was syringe feeding it to him after adding enough water to almost turn it into soup. It wasn’t my preference, but it was his so that’s what he got. The two younger cats were getting Rawz canned but it’s pricey.

  • Fancy feast is not bad. Have you looked at nutro natural choice? They make a nice chicken soft loaf for seniors. Low in carbohydrates, high in protein and most cats really like those. The ingredients are really quite good. I just got a bunch of nutro cans at PetSmart..they had a buy 12 get 2 free sale going on so it ended up being something like $1.04 per can. That’s not really horrible for a good quality food.

Fancy feast classics, or even the grilled flavors are not the worst thing you can feed her. There is a lot of "better" more expensive foods that are not as good.
you want to feed high protein, moderate fat, and low carb.

Right now my guys get two wet meals per day, they are eating a lot of Tiki cat, and Almo nature, the complete recipes. They also get some other brands occasionally , i like the Merrick back country, in the black pouches, and the minced flavors of american journey that you can get from chewy. they also get the occasional fancy feast in the rotation :)

The foods i feed are low in calories, so i do also supplement with dry. I feed Dr. Elseys dry, the chicken

this food is fairly new, and a good price. my cats like all of the minced flavors, and are ok with the chicken pate, but mine always prefer minced. i dont know if you have ever ordered from chewy? they are really good about returns if your guys dont like it.

This is a good suggestion: the soft loaf foods from Nutro are even designed to be "lappable," so cats (especially senior cats) can just lap them up. They're definitely softer than, say, Fancy Feast pates, which are also very decent food!
