I took Freddy to the vet yesterday because she kept throwing up. Turns out she was also running a fever and the vet opted to keep her, gave a painkiller, something for the nausea and fluids. Today she's not eaten, still has a fever despite meds and her pee is a funny color.
I am worried sick:(! I keep thinking of Amara and how this is so similar...unknown ailment, fever won't go down...please send us some good vibes..I can't lose another one...:sniffle:

After a couple of searches I see that Amara died of FIP, and that you had Freddy before Amara's death, which means she was exposed. I suggest asking your vet to test for FIP. Better to know than to stew over it. :crossfingers:

Before I even read Margret Margret reply I thought FIP also. Since Amara succumbed to this dreaded disease I'm sure you're well acquainted with the information but I thought I would post this Article: Fip In Cats

I can empathize with you since I had a young boy who passed away from FIP. It was my first experience with this insidious illness and I hope and pray Freddy doesn't have it too. Please contact the vet and if you feel in any way they are not taking this seriously get a second opinion. Thinking of you and sending special thoughts and healing vibes your way. :vibes:Please keep us updated on Freddy. :hugs:

Unfortunately we don't have a way to test. We can only assume. I did voice my concerns and they really take me seriously. Freddy is home now and quite happy to be home. They gave me antibiotics for the infection. Her muscles were breaking down which is weird.
She has not thrown up nor has she diarrea.
I didn't know Fip could hang around for so long. I thought after 3 months it would be okay. Now I am worried for all my cats....am I gonna lose them one by one to this disease??????

Freddy seems alert but reluctant to eat. I force fed her a bit of wet food and she kept it down....for now. We'll see how she's doing tomorrow.
I'm still worried and hope I don't have to say goodbye again....
Over the last year and a half I've had to say goodbye to Beau, my sheep, Rose, our wonderfull shetland, Lady and Amara...I am on the verge of a nervous breakdown:sniffle::sigh:

Freddy hasn't had a fever anymore:woo:. She still doesn't eat anything, but with a bit of persuasion she'll eat wet food and I've seen her nibble dry food. She has also not thrown up again.
I will be monitoring her but for now it looks like she gave me a good scare(and bills:p)
