so I finally found a turkey cat food that my turkey hating cats will gladly eat.. bought a few cans on a whim just to try and they gobbled it up much to my surprise. Aaaand...... now I can’t find it anywhere. Is it being discontinued? Or are there supply issues? Does anyone know?

I don't know about that particular Nutro food (for some reason, our cats never really loved the chunky turkey) but Nutro in general has been having supply issues. I don't think I've seen chunky turkey in a long time, though: I probably would have picked up a can or two when our cats' beloved minced chicken (now axed from the menu due to its overwhelmingly carby composition!) was unavailable for so long.

I do remember that a few years ago a Petco employee gave me the distinct impression that the Natural Choice sliced turkey didn't sell well (I don't remember if she said it was being discontinued by Nutro or that Petco wouldn't continue carrying it...) so I wonder if turkey foods just aren't successful. I seem to recall another company (perhaps Weruva?) saying turkey was problematic for some reason(s). That, too, was several years ago and I don't remember details. But this stuck with me since I'm always trying to avoid feeding too much chicken!

I too try to avoid feeding too much chicken but it seems like it’s in everything. The chunky turkey is just turkey and pork broth which is great and my two piggies like it! I actually went out shopping today and stopped at a PetSmart and they actually had the chunky turkey in stock so I bought all they had :insertevillaugh: And it was buy 12 get 2 free! I’m pretty excited about it actually. It’s out of stock everywhere on line.

Nutro has done some weird things with their foods lately. I hear it being discontinued, then i hear its not. IDK I rotated away from most all nutro after it got impossible to find locally. The ones that like the minced nutro flavors are pretty happy with American journey minced flavors. They especially like the turkey and the turkey and salmon.

It's weird, isn't it, with Nutro? It feels like a lot of these pet food companies just can't get their stories straight. Or maybe they, themselves, don't know what the plan is?

I wish it would all just stay consistent and these companies would think about something other than profit. I think nutro is a really good food and I’m happy my piggies will eat it. I just wish they would straighten out their supply issues.

So of course the only turkey food my kitties will eat is being discontinued. So disappointing :bawling2::livid:

Yes unfortunately :bawling2::bawling2::bawling2:
Well, I guess it's at least good to know for sure, right? (I'm a real brightsider!) I should probably write to ask them if they're also discontinuing their sliced turkey, which the cats used to love but which has also disappeared. Then again, it's fairly similar to the minced chicken so has a likelihood of being too carby to keep feeding.

Nutro discontinued several flavors of canned cat food around the time they introduced the Wild Frontier line. My cats prefer pate and they liked all flavors of the chunky and soft loafs except the turkey ones or the breakfast scrambles. I was disappointed that chunky duck and salmon was discontinued because it was one of my cats' top favorites. They still make the 2 senior soft loaf flavors that were part of my rotation and my cats love the senior Wild Frontier chicken dry.

I don’t think they are getting rid of the sliced turkey. I know this bc when I asked about the chunky turkey they said it’s being discontinued but offered for me to try the sliced turkey as an alternative. You’re right about the probable carb content though so it’s a no for my piggies:(

It’s really too bad. I don’t feed my cats seafood too often but when I did they seemed to love the duck and salmon as well. I’m really not a fan of the wild frontier food they came out with. It’s more expensive and I’m not crazy about the ingredients. Cat food companies sure know how to screw up the best foods for sure.

They really should take these products off their website. This thread is from May, and it is now September, and they are still on the site (though when you go to Shop Now, the Chunky Turkey has in faint letters "Discontinued"). My cats used to love it, but I stopped using it because I thought it was causing some digestive issues in one of my cats. I am not sure that it was not just stress now, and I thought I would give it a try again. The Perfect Portions and Wild Frontier line unfortunately have carrageenan and/or xanthum gum, which two of my cats cannot tolerate. What a shame. Oh well, at least I can try the chunky chicken.
