Actually this was more like my 17th selfie because I wouldn't sit still so mom has around 10 pictures of the back of my head, 4 pictures of the side of my head and 2 pictures of my chin. HAHA! Cooperation is for wimps! Happy Tuesday everybody! XOXO Sophie :lovecat3: :dancingblackcat:

That's a sweet picture. She looks kind of surprised that you finally got a shot of her face.

My positive for the day is that thanks to the miracle of the internet I can see new pictures of the kittens I sent to be adopted by the Cat Cafe almost every day.

Jack and Tricky hard at work in their jobs as Staff here.

This one is called Komeko. I've never met this cat, but I bet he's fun to be around.

I went to the cemetery today to visit the Love of my life. I used to do that a few times a year. I always put fresh plants on his grave and I leave one of his favourite drinks (a bottle of wine or beer).
When we travelled in Latin America, we visited numerous cemeteries and we noticed that people brought and left gifts for their beloved deceased ones. We both liked the idea and I promised my Love to provide him with wine and beer when he would pass away. I kept my promise. The bottles inevitably disappear, but I don't mind.
Visiting the Love of my life doesn't make me sad; it makes me proud to have known such a gentle, truthful and warm person. We had a wonderful time together. Some people never find the Love of their lives. I did. Could anything be more pawsitive ?

I'm a little envious of those members who have gorgeous nature right outside their homes, but so happy for those who photograph it and share it with us. Being in NYC, our natural resource is famous people. While I didn't get a photo, I saw actor Mandy Patinkin on the subway yesterday. It didn't seem like anyone else recognized him, or maybe everyone was just playing it cool like me. If I had been crushed up against him (it was rush hour), I may have spoken to him, but there were a couple of people between us, so I just let him be.

Cat Selfies

Summer rushed in without warning this morning; it's risen over seventy degrees already, and the whole near world is green again! The windows are filled with kitties, the birds are everywhere, and I can hear the canoe calling me - here's wishing everyone on TCS a fabulous day!

1CatOverTheLine 1CatOverTheLine - A little over 60 in Ottawa today and the grass is starting to green :) Was sunny early this morning but clouded over now. Springtime has definitely arrived.

I got my cat statue back from my friend yesterday. I think the zinc casting affected the paint as it came out more like pewter than chrome, looks good none the less. I cleaned up a brass cast cat I picked up on the weekend. Spent several hours with Brasso, rags and a polishing cloth. I have clear coated both and need to buff the clear coat. I will try and post a photo of the two later.

There are so many wonderful posts I have been able to catch up with today!

This morning as it was just beginning to get light, I heard a familiar Spring sound. First, one bird was stirring, chirping. Soon, there was another. Then another. Well, the chorus became quite a musical production in a short while. This is one of the things that really makes me smile in the Spring and Summer, even though the hour is early!:)

Lari Lari , maybe Lelia will have a new favorite show, Dancing With The Stars? She looks so pretty in her cat tree!

@foxxycat , bee balm flowers are so awesome! I always loved the bright red ones, especially!

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Hi again!
Speaking of birds, yesterday in the midst of a scramblin' day I had the fantastic opportunity to hear a meadowlark in the middle of a fairly busy area! I stopped the car off to the side of the road and listened to him sing his little heart out for a good five minutes.

Today I've heard a number of other birds being rather talkative before a storm moved in; blackbirds, starlings, robins, finches or wrens, I don't know the difference (my apologies to bird people).

As I was looking at hummingbird migration maps and saw there was one sighted literally a few blocks north of me, finally!! (I'm quite a ways east of the Rocky Mountains from a hummingbird's perspective, and some years it takes a while for them to get out here) I learned from a birder's checklist that there are (at least?) 6 different types of sparrows. I had no idea !!

R raysmyheart - unlikely! She napped and then begged me for playtime halfway through. And yet I just put on ANW on demand...

Butterfly update! Miss Elaina made her way out this morning.

Then this afternoon Katerina Kittycat joined them.

Since you guys seem to like butterflies, we went on a field trip to the nature museum today and they have a butterfly room, so I thought I'd share a few snapshots I took.

My first bearded iris this year coming up in the garden, also some blue forget-me-nots right behind them, I can hardly wait for everything to flower. The veggies are coming up beautifully with tomatoes, peppers and zucchini having blossoms on them. The grapes also have tiny buds, it looks like it will be a bountiful harvest this year.

This is such a beautiful, and purely truthful, sentiment that I am beaming with PAWsitivity and happiness that you shared it! I'm happy for you for having known the Love of your life.

I saw actor Mandy Patinkin on the subway yesterday. It didn't seem like anyone else recognized him, or maybe everyone was just playing it cool like me. If I had been crushed up against him (it was rush hour), I may have spoken to him, but there were a couple of people between us, so I just let him be.
THE Inigo Montoya??!!?? That's so rad!! I think it's pretty cool that you saw him, and also that you had the self restraint to let him be. What a good celeb sighting!

Today, my PAWsitive is that I got to see this precious moment between Mog and Lucy. I missed out on the grooming photo contest, but I had been stalking them for a good pic during grooming time for a while. So, today Mog was grooming Lucy, then he kinda nuzzled her, as if to say "your turn!" And they switched. Too adorable! How did I go this long in my life without having cats?

Everyone's flower and butterfly pix are gorgeous -- thanks all for sharing with us! And of COURSE the cat pix -- that goes without saying but I'll say it anyway. *and yes, tinydestroyer tinydestroyer -- I can't answer that, either, but a "life" without cats is just a mean existence IMHO* ;)
Shane Kent Shane Kent Can't wait to see! I bought a sculpture some years back that reminds me of your description finish-wise:
IMG_2913.JPG

I have the paperwork somewhere and it may explain the process, but I'd have to hunt for it. Sorry for the glare -- it's stuck down in the curio cabinet with museum glue, so I didn't take it out. It's more for insurance purposes than viewing pleasure.

Wow, all those pictures you've been sharing are amazing!

I will contribute, too, sharing a few pictures I took this week when I went with my parents and our doggies for a walk. The quality of the pictures is far from brilliant, since I took them with my mobile phone, and there is room for improvement in the composition, but the place is so beautiful that it looks great despite all this ;)

Alejandra Rico Alejandra Rico - Fabulous oceanfront shots, but I especially like the Foxglove - they positively thrive here, and enliven the whole landscape!

We managed 75º here today, with warmer temperatures predicted for tomorrow. Even Shane Kent Shane Kent is due for mid-seventies temperatures up in beautiful Ottawa tomorrow!

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 - Add me to the list of folks that envy where Alejandra Rico Alejandra Rico lives - and just for you, the "Old and New" daffodil bed and the west edge of the back lawn:

daffodilbedwest.jpg

The old is "Van Sion," stretching back 400 years or more - the Narcissus you're most apt to find marking old house foundations; the new is Karel J. van der Veek's bi-colour, "Sound," registered in 2000.

Foxglove don't grow wild here but they do "back home" and also in WA where I lived for 1 1/2 years. Here's a bouquet that I picked and took home when I lived there.

I was quite partial to foxglove because they make digitalis from it which is used for heart problems and my daughter had been born with a heart defect. Now that she is no more I always plant foxglove in memory of her. They usually do not grow the next year but I keep trying.
And here is my first bearded iris of the year.

segelkatt segelkatt - Eine bittersüße Erinnerung; Du hast ein wundervolles Herz! What lovely photos these are, as well.

It's a crystal clear night here, with the temperature still in the sixties an hour after midnight, and the moonlight still sufficient to navigate without any additional light. Wherever you are tonight, if your skies are clear, remember to look up; that stellar panorama is still free for the taking.

Aw, thanks! I do love living in Asturias, with all its shades of green and the fresh air. In Spain, they call it "The Natural Paradise", and I think it was Woody Allen the one who mentioned that it is just like a tiny version of the greeniest part of American landscape: whatever you wanna see, it is here, but in a smallest version and just half an hour or so away by car ;)

1CatOverTheLine 1CatOverTheLine , the place you live in has one of the most beautiful landscapes I've ever seen... And those daffodils are so beautiful they look like they've been painted overnight by Tinkerbell's friends :) Your picture brings me memories of my childhood. I used to lay on the grass, between daffodils and iris flowers, when I was six, wondering if a white rabbit would pass running while checking his clock and show me the entry to a magical world.

I think I am still waiting for him ;)
