Dad came right home from work yesterday to take me for a hike since its supposed to rain the rest of the week.

Dad says the things that made the splash in the water are called frogs. I didn't see these "frogs" that made the splash, so I'll take his word for it.

Stalking flies.

Did you see which way the fly went?

Dad says he saw a fox. Mumbled something about wanting his better camera but doesn't bring it when he takes me out.
I was in the backpack and didn't see a thing. I think he's making it up.

Speedy out for a walk, Summer 2017.
That might be the closest thing to being "dappled" that I have seen in a cat. A dappled coat in a horse looks like it is standing under a tree in the sunlight with shadows from the tree leaves dancing around on it. So I guess you have a dappled cat.
"You use dappled to describe something that has dark or light patches on it, or that is made up of patches of light and shade. ...a dappled horse. The path was dappled with sunlight."
