New problem here
Lily Unfortunately, since he was born, he's always been Picky But now he's got problems like IBD and Herpes
The vet suggested I give him chicken and rice for a month to see what happen and it's work the diarrhea gone But not for a long time he gets bored and leaves it so I change it to royal canin for sensitive and its work and again he gets bored now when I was in the super market I tried fancy feast turkey flavor and I was happy I didn't see any diarrhea today he leave it I don't know what to do anymore I don't have much choices we don't have a lot of company and my money gone for throwing the food after he leave it and every type of food upset his stomach :(

Is he medically too skinny? If not, then why humor him just because he gets bored with his food? Treat him like a human child, eat it or eat nothing. Usually, they eat it, especially if they have in the past and its just boredom. Its one thing if they get bored with Friskies or something, then sure, you switch, but this is a vet recommended diet that was working to solve a problem. Let him go a little hungry, he'll start eating it again.

I heard it's not good letting the cat without food
It's not Friskies its fancy feast but It solves the problem and its the only choice that I have ، I hate when he does that :angryfire:

I sympathize with you trying to feed a fussy cat who also has health issues. :alright:

My Ruby was never officially diagnosed, but she is on vet recommended hypo-allergenic canned food, and I know sometimes she gets bored with it. I'm lucky, though, eventually she will eat it, but I know how concerning it is to see that untouched dish sitting there.

Along with her wet food, I do give Ruby a few pieces of dry food each day, as a treat. But I have to be careful, because too many cause diarrhea the next day.

Maybe, especially with your cat's health issues, mention his pickiness to your vet, and get their advice/suggestion.

Here's a couple articles that might have helpful ideas for you:

Good luck. :heartshape:

Can you try rotating foods? Maybe if he goes back to one of the foods he liked previously but got bored with, it might seem new and exciting.

I've also heard that putting bonito flakes on cat food can make it more appealing to cats. If your vet thinks it's OK, maybe you could try this or one of the other flavor enhancers that's available at pet stores/on Amazon to try to spice things up for him.

If your cat will eat refrigerated food, then the food should be ok in the frig for several days. My Big Guy won't so although I still do put food in the fridge, mostly that's just wishful thinking :)

I have had good luck with bonito flakes, and you could also try fortiflora - it isn't much good as a probiotic but it can be really good as an enticement to eat.
Also, have you seen this website IBDKitties – Helping Save Lives…One Paw at a Time

Canned food lasts several days, but a lot of cats get persnickety about eating cold food. If you keep the can in a plastic (seal-able) bag, and then submerge it in cool water for 30 minutes or so it will come to a better room temp, so you won't have to throw it out if they decide they don't want cold food, thanks, only a freshly opened can. =)
Another idea is warming it to bring out aromas. I don't love microwaves, but this might be something worth trying if you have one.
Some cats like pate canned food, others won't touch it. Some that like pate want it mashed, others like it in chunks. Others dislike pate but will snarf down any kind of "shred" or "cuts" in any kind of gravy.
If he likes dry, I'd keep it on hand to at least encourage him to eat if he's off his regular wet food. Even though dry isn't "totally great" for all cats, other foods do little to help when the cat just won't eat.
My raw fed cats that have been transitioned a decade ago still go nuts if they think there's a kibble bag around! When I open bags of litter pellets it's a mad dash.

And yes, I would definitely rotate foods if you have a few brands/varieties he likes and will eat for a day or two. Mix it up crazy. If you have 4 foods he likes and does well on, buy several cans of each and keep mixing and matching to keep his interest up.

We have an IBD guy. It's maddening sometimes.
Sometimes our IBD guy really likes it when we empty a can, add an inch or two of hot water into the can, then pour over the food. Sometimes we serve his food in a mash with water, other times it's water-less "chunks" of pate and sometimes it's shreds or gravy-style food.
Some cats hate that cold refrigerated food and will leave it sit for an hour or so before eating. With IBD or anything digestive related, cold food hitting the stomach hard can cause discomfort/pain/bloating/etc.
I can only liken it to having a raging case of the stomach flu and eating a huge plate of cold cuts or cold cheeses with ice cold raw vegetables or ice cold raw fruits. Normally we might love that (I know I do) but when our stomach is making us green, small meals of warm, comfort foods and bland foods are good...
If at all possible, feed a few smaller meals per day vs. 1 or 2 larger meals per day and keep the food as room temp as possible, mixing it up and offering variety in types of food, and by all means if he wants dry food and will eat nothing more, offer it. IBD cats need no help in going off food and screwing up their digestion.

If you are cooking chicken & rice ... have you asked your vet what other meats you can cook with rice? They have forums here for nutrition where you can get recipes. I'm lazy and lucky my bud only has food allergies.

Cat Nutrition

My boys hated the Venison (I had to mix a fishy fancy feast broth in to get them to touch it!) They didn't care so much for the rabbit. They like
Instinct by Nature's Variety Original Grain-Free Real Beef Recipe &
Nature's Variety Pride by Instinct Grain-Free Minced Lovebug's Lamb Recipe (it has piggy in it.) Both of those canned wet foods are reasonably priced if you buy the larger cans. I also rotate my cats food, between 4-5 different types of wet food.

IMO if bland boring repetitive Chicken & Rice is what your cat needs to be healthy .... then just like giving little kids medicine, sometimes you have to stand firm..... but you can buy grape flavored medicine ;)

Our dude loves chicken (though, we add pumpkin and veg instead of rice with a calcium source) and did NOT care for beef. So weird, but understandable, how they have preferences!!

Thank u for the information
I did something wrong I give him salmon flavor and I knew I will see watery diarrhea END of the day ;( but I have to get him eat
After that, he ate the turkey but 5 hours he vomited I was so worried I want to give more healthy food I don't know how to convince him to eat it I know I have to treat them like kids but I have no patience and I tried a lot of time so many can open for an outdoor cat

I stopped ordering food for picky eaters or cats with digestive problems and started buying (in town) a can or two a piece. The ordering/tossing half of it when they lose interest is maddening and depressing. =(
I'm one of those raw feeders who aims for the purest of foods and the grass-fed-iest (is that a word? LOL) stuff and organic and all that happy crap but I do realize sometimes it's impossible to obtain (not to mention afford), and if they won't eat it it's doing them no good, and even if they will eat it but they do poorly, it's doing no good...yet I still feed one of our cats with a badly compromised system FF because he likes it (usually, he's picky!), he does OK on it and it's easy to obtain and rarely has that "new and improved" crap label on it.
If Fancy Feast is working, there's worse of options out there. It's not "the best" by many standards but it's certainly not the worst.
If you can mix the foods, or offer mostly FF and a dab of something else to start the transition, great, but if he's a sick kid that just wants his normal food, offer it in small meals as often as you can, and don't sweat.
Heck our raw fed cats got a nasty respiratory infection passing between them and they ALL went off raw. FF and kibble got them going again and switching them back was a cinch.

I really want to try raw feeding I heard a lot about it
But I don't know where to start and i'm always worried that he will get some viruses I have enough of that
Or warm problem :cringe:
I asked my vet and he told me to be careful when I do it and put it in the freezer 3 days to kill the bacteria
Or he will not touch it :angryfire:

Raw feeding is great (and cheap, if sourced locally) IMO but if he won't eat it, he won't eat it. They can be converted/changed over, but when they're sick they don't want that. And sometimes cats just want nothing to do with it, and I get that!! (Boy...do I get that!)
If I'm sick I don't want someone suddenly taking my food I like away and offering me food I have never tried/may not like!!! =) If have a stomach flu and want nothing but noodle soup and someone says "forget that, have this raw sushi" I would probably barf on the spot. If he's not feeling his best it's probably not a good time to offer raw foods or a new diet unless your vet has ideas on what could help make him feel better. But if you think he would enjoy a bit of *cooked* chicken or whatever see what he has to say =) Even broth (onion free please) can make cats happy. Best wishes to you =)
Edit onion free baby food has always been well accepted here, should he go off his food!

I'm with 1 bruce 1 1 bruce 1 here.. transitioning to raw doesn't sound like the way to go in this situation.
If you do want more information or raw feeding, though, we keep that in its own forum here. :)
And there's lots of info out there, feline nutrition and catinfo both have lots of good information, and this isn't a way to slam anyone feed a commercial diet as lots of good commercial foods are out there (how else did my childhood kitties live to see 20+ on commercial foods?!?!), but for us cat-centric types, its good to read up on this stuff (IMO) if our cats are experiencing problems so if and when those problems are controlled well and (the cats) are receptive, we can make a change if we see fit!
