Then we got a plea for help from someone who has 3 pregnant cats and one cat who recently gave birth. They are open to the idea of spaying the pregnant moms, they are just babies themselves. We have a spay trip on 4/16 so if they aren't too far along then they will be going then! They can keep the moms but they can't have 4 litters of kittens on top of that. We are going to help spay/neuter the kittens as well and adopt them out when they are old enough.
Here is a picture of them.

The black and white mom of 7 was an owner abandon while pregnant. Another rescue currently has her, but they don't have a lot of experience with large litters such as this so they wanted our help for supplementing and rotating. This rescue usually primarily works with ferals.

I will be posting lots of pictures and updates as I get them!
Don't forget the tails...although the pics of new mama has several LOVELY ones! Wodgey little bottle-brushes.

Dear God. I would never be able to live with myself! I am continually amazed at the horrors people are capable of. But then, there are those like you who remind me that there are truly loving, good people out there as well.

So the rescue that has the mom with 7 just contacted me because they also got 7 7week old kittens. They are taking three of my ferals that need relocated (they have a sanctuary) so I am more than happy to help with their friendly kittens! So we should be taking 14 kittens and a momma! Oh my! Good thing I have some kitten rooms open!

I couldn't quite tell if they were actually calicos or torties with more white than usual. To my thinking, a "calico" has distinct, larger patches of black and orange with white, and torties are more...brindled with or without white.

Oh, heck, who really knows? I've seen so many descriptions of either. But one thing they all say is that torties don't have significant amounts of white. Hekitty does have white, but not much at all. She has a "fingernail" of white just above and another just below her orange ruff, a dime-sized spot in her left "armpit", and white spots between the pads of two feet. And one white whisker. There's not enough white on her to cover a half-dollar. In my book, that's definitely tortie. Now, your little guys, they have a bit more white.

To me, this would be a calico:

and this would be a tortie (even with the white):

and this?

Oh, heck, let's call her a "tortico" or a "calibie" and be done with it!

So we picked up our babies... unfortunately the mom with 7 3 week old kittens lost one of her kittens yesterday. I think she just wasn't producing enough milk for all of them. The foster that had them for the other rescue kept really great notes that they sent me on their progress which is incredibly helpful!
I haven't gotten great pictures yet but here are pictures from the car ride

Momma Emily and her remaining babies are currently set up in a crate- these tiny babies are starting to MOVE though! They will be moving into Lexie and her babies room in a few days because they all get spayed on Monday and then go to their homes on Tuesday! (yay!)
Here are the records their previous foster took

And then here are pictures of our 7 7week old kittens! They are a little scared but settling in, they are cuties! More pictures to come!

Then FINALLY. to end this crazy busy day/week/year. Two days ago we were contacted about a pregnant tortie that needed placed in the southern part of the state. Her owner was moving and she needed to get rid of her I guess. I was working on finding a foster- because there is no more room at my inn lol!. I got a new person to sign up to be one of our fosters- WOO! She agreed to take on the pregnant tortie. I messaged the lady that has her to find out that she is in labor! Good grief! She had 6 babies! Its about a 3 hour transport to get them up here so I want to wait a couple of days... we are looking at getting them up here on Sunday and placing them in foster!

Alright, now we really are in the heat of kitten season now!

Dang. I shall now be living in a state of exhalted, exhilerated kittensmitten high. What beautiful babies! I hate that one didn't make it. Seven is hard, especially for a mama with no to poor prenatal care!

Rest you gentle, Little Scrap, dream you deep. Your tiny life is marked and your passing mourned.

Goodness! You are very busy! It seems all cats got pregnant under a full moon and are having huge litters this year.

How are Mia and her babies doing? Are all 7 getting enough milk?

Emily's Litter! These guys are all sneezy and some have watery eyes and some are congested so we have a vet appointment on Saturday to get everyone on meds. I am also supplemental feeding them. Some tail pictures for you all!
