A happy morning to all! Looks like a nice clear day out! A bit warmer this morning, 31. Hopefully we will see 50 today! And my girl slept on me last night! I wish she would stay there all night-guess I move too much! Love my Honeybee snuggling!! She does this biscuit thing and purrs really loud then curls up and goes to sleep..keeping me warm.

the purple trees are jacaranda, they will bloom here in another month or two, drop their flowers all over, pretty on the lawn and a horrible mess on sidewalks and cars, and don't bring them on your shoes inside on the carpet, that stain will never come out; then there is a peach amaryllis, a red and white amaryllis, a red bougainvillea, a light purple bougainvillea (they also come in yellow and pink), a yellow w/red hibiscus, a pink hibiscus, I have no idea what the little blue flower is, the ropey looking red flower is a acalypha hispida in the family of euphorbias also known as chenille flower and the red upright flower appears to be a lupine.
Thank you, segelkatt segelkatt ! You are now pawsitively my designated flower expert. Are you also good at identifying birds? My next post will be about the wildlife I saw in Mexico & I need help there too.

Thank you for your vote of confidence, ileen ileen . Sorry, not an expert on birds, I'm having a hard time just telling the difference between a lot of birds that are native here in CA and have forgotten most of those in my home country. I'm sure that a lot of the birds in Mexico live here too including parrots which are not native here but probably the descendants of escaped or abandoned birds. They are smallish red and green parrots which can be a real pest in orchards and are too big (about the size of a crow) for most domestic cats to take down (if they could catch them). But beautiful and that's always positive.

segelkatt segelkatt -- those are conures, descendants of birds caught for the cage trade who thrive here in this very unfamiliar topography and climate. There are big flocks of conures in the San Francisco Bay area, the subject of a famous book from which a film was made, both entitled, "THE WILD PARROTS OF TELEGRAGPH HILL" (book by Mark Bittner). We have them here, too, and I love them! They're quite talkative and always thrilling to see and hear. I've never heard of them doing any harm to anything or anyone in the L.A. Metro area. They're mainly seed-eaters, I've learned.

Happy Thursday!
foxxycat foxxycat the only thing that beats snuggling with a purring kitty is also having a warm dog on the other side of you! Pawsitively love that Tommy & Hershey will sleep with us. But not typically Jack. He prefers my daughter's loft bed. He will curl up in our bed during the day though.

Now I have a lot of coconut oil and nothing to do with it, so I've started to do my own tinted lipbalms using coconut oil, almond oil and a little bit of lipstick.
I have a ton of coconut oil too, Alejandra Rico Alejandra Rico . I'll have to try your tinted lip balm idea! Since you're a teacher, you'll appreciate this: if you want a nice treat for your feet after standing all day, mix coconut oil, sugar and mint oil (or extracts,) for a nice, soothing foot scrub after work. I use it all the time!

My PAWSITIVE is that I got a new blender, so I'm excited to make some smoothies. Going to the produce stand now to pick out some fun ingredients!

Edit: segelkatt segelkatt the succulent comment might have been me, I do t quite remember. Although I have a very distinct memory of TONS of succulents and rock gardens, especially with the water rationing, you are completely right about those other flowers, too. We had a great bougainvillea and hibiscuses at my old apartment in Hollywood. And the jacaranda trees are a beautiful mess! Sorry if my memory of SoCal was tainted.

May God bless you and all your furry loves, YOU are brilliant! I definitely have to try it! Do you think lavender oil could be used instead of mint oil? I do not have the latter, but I have just ordered a tiny bottle of lavender oil from Amazon and it is supposed to arrive on Monday, so I would like to know if it would work its magic too, or if it has to be mint.

My pawsitive is that I sñent a great day with my friend and her partner in her new city. Plus, one of my favourite people in the world has allowed me to read not one but two of his short stories :)

Have a nice day you all, this Spanish crazy cat lady is ready to sleep!

I'm sure you could use any kind of carrier oil you like. I just like the mint, because it has a cooling / soothing sort of zing to it, and that feels good on your feet after a long day standing. I work in retail, so I use it every day, lol. I've substituted mint extract for oil on occasion (with argan oil in its place,) if you have that in your kitchen. I bet the lavender would also be nice and soothing, though! I love the scent of lavender, especially in a bath!
Thanks for the tip donnae donnae - I'll have to try that tonight. Eye makeup remover + eye cream in one!

Second food-related PAWSITIVE of the day: I just came home to some slow-cooker carnitas which my husband must've popped in before work. Not having to cook + taco night = double happiness!

Today, as I was entering the highway, a young, confused-looking wild turkey ran onto the road in front of me. A very paw-sitive thing is that I was not traveling too fast and had time to slow so as not to hurt this little guy or gal. However, the turkey then decided to run toward the right-most travel lane and I feared an accident for the car it was about to run in front of. As soon as the turkey came within a couple milliseconds of the vehicle, the turkey made an almost complete vertical ascent above the car, everyone avoiding trouble. This turned out quite positive. I have seen wild turkeys many times in the back of my house just before sunset fly almost completely vertically into pine trees for the evening, reaching very high up. It is always amazing. I did not see where the turkey flew to, because I was paying attention to the road, but was glad everything was alright in the end. Speaking of wild turkeys, it will not be too many months before (I won't see the turkeys for a while), then they appear so happy to see me with their new babies. It is one of the highlights of my year. They will then visit me quite often and I can see the changes in the young ones, how fast they grow.

Thank you! I made those pots years ago. I'm surprised they've lasted this long. Of course the real miracle is that the cacti have survived this long living in the same house as Hiro. He doesn't like plants and usually smashes them up. Peed all my outdoor rose bushes to death too! I guess the cacti survive because they are armed and can defend themselves.

My positive is that I spent all day working outside in the garden. I'm hoping to get all the spring outdoor work finished soon. The trouble is, every time I finish one job I find another one that needs doing. I keep having all these ideas and thinking "Oh, it might look really good if I tried that!" Then of course I just have to do it.

At least I work evenings 4 days a week, so I can make the most of the daylight hours.

TGIF! Today is my kickback day, going to kick back and relax with the big "C" until I have to go out. He is resting comfortably next to me and making the darn cutest squeaky noises. Did I forget to mention how much I love this cat?:lovecat3:

I hope everyone is having as beautiful a day as we are! The temperature is bad down to a high of 77 instead of the 90s so I went around and opened all the windows, now we have a lovely breeze flowing through the house and Sadie hasn’t moved from the windowsill ☺

ileen ileen , thank you for posting the beautiful pictures for us. The beach and the food look amazing!

There is a very mild breeze where I am today, I noticed it is 67 degrees F right now. I have an extra hour today between my shifts, so I thought maybe Speedy would like me to open the door and she can go to look outside and smell the fresh air from the screen porch for a little bit. She is looking through the screens seeming to be very interested in things outside, things that I cannot even see, but I'm sure she hears and smells a lot going on outside.

TYSM for sharing those beautiful pix -- almost all of my favorite fruits are represented there, as well as quite a few vegetables! And the table is beautiful.
As for the landscapes, it makes me want a coconut.
I hope those turtles are protected! They are captive, I can see. In a sanctuary?
