Has Anyone Else's Cat Stopped Liking Fancy Feast Canned Food?

I am bumping up this old thread because my cats have always been crazy for FF Classic. For the past 4 days they won't touch it. I'm wondering if the recipe has been changed. So I decided to try Friskies Classic Pate and they ate every scrap. Weird cats.

Pate ANYthing just won't go in this house - he has a 'thing' against it LOL but I'm gearing up to try the new (to me) Purina Muse. I realize it has bad additives in it, but I think/hope I can offset it with a variety of other foods.

My cat just did the same thing. I've only had her for a few weeks so it may be that she just doesn't like some flavors and I haven't figured out what those are yet, but she decided she no longer liked anything, no matter what flavor I offered. She'd only take the Science Diet Dry she had at the rescue, so we're back to square one food-wise... I think I'll focus on finding foods that she'll eat that I can afford then toss the least healthy options.

It seems, according to Chewy reviews, that fish was added to some recipes that wasn't there before?

I may have misread (I'm currently trapped in some outdated-by-six-years-glasses thanks to the new kitten) but I'm pretty sure the cans I currently have are the old formula. I'm running to the pet store tomorrow to pick up a few more before they switch over! Currently, FF Tender Liver & Chicken is the ONLY food other than baby food my two sick kitties will eat. When Mojo wolfed down a quarter can today all on his own I nearly cried. If the recipe changes and he won't touch it... it's back to syringe feeding.

Bless your heart
In case it helps, there's a brand I'm seeing also by Purina that's called Muse. It might work for you...
Thank you! I will check these out! At this point, I can't be picky; whatever they eat, they get.

To note, my husband came home with cans of the new Fancy Feast recipe. He says they've changed from "Classic" to "Classic Pate" and added fish. I'll have a chance to compare the new recipe tomorrow and see how our cats react.

Well, I didn't get to compare! This morning I gave Benson some of the Fancy Feast Classic the two sick kitties have been getting, and today he's been vomiting and having diarrhea. So no more Fancy Feast. The others have eaten it okay, but I'd rather be safe. Sorry about that!

That's so sad . Why can't these pet food companies stop fixing what ain't broke. I also have a whole case of FF my cats won't touch. The stray cat loves it anyway. My cats have now pledged their allegiance to Friskies twice a day. I hope it stays that way for awhile.
I hope your kitties are feeling better today.

Thanks! Benson started vomiting blood and went to the ER last night. He's on a home-cooked diet for the next few days, but I'm researching how to continue it long-term. Now I have a ton of Fancy Feast that I feel bad feeding my other cats. They're turning up their noses at their usual food and definitely asking for their FF though.

I completely agree - I hate that companies make these formula changes that become such a pain for their current customers. When my cats haven't tried the "old" formula, it's easy to introduce the new one, but heaven help us if a recipe changes once they've gotten used to it.

Looks like we all have picky cats lol. My guy started off on raw when I adopted him...he now turns his nose up and actually shakes his head and shakes his paw off (as if its wet) if I put down raw for him. Almost seems to make him nauseous lol. He goes through phases. He seems to enjoy the fancy feast. I sometimes get a week or two worth of Ziwipeaks canned, but I can't afford to feed that on the regular. Here, they're almost $4 for a small can. I might as well move under a bridge and call it a day lol. I also sometimes buy odd cans of different brands every now and then. Tiki and Wellness. He's ok with those, not his favorites. He's also a grazer. And then, maybe 2 times a week I will throw in some kibble, which he absolutely adores and devours. Anyone else's cats seem to prefer dry over wet lately? I am trying out Orijen sample pack right now. I think the prairie flavor...with chicken.

Our cats much prefer dry over wet. I feed Dr. Elseys dry. They love it. I was feeding Friskies Classic Pate which they like but it was making them vomit for some reason. This weekend I'm going to Petsmart and get one can of several different brands and see what they like.

I literally just hauled back a few cases of FF pate. Turkey and giblets, chopped grill, and salmon. Salmon used to be the kitty crack over here. I’m thinking a formula change. I have to say, Petsmart is really great about exchanging food. I also tried a bit of Friskies but ended up taking that back too. She seems to want the gravy stuff these days so I give her one can of gravy and a can of pate to try to balance it out. She also gets high quality, grain free dry. I’ve noticed Petsmart finally has the new touch of milk flavours here in Canada. She will eat them but doesn’t seem to love it either, the pate version is also grain free. Cats.........

My cats get FF pate every day and they have been fine. I buy the variety pack that has classic chicken, classic beef, turkey, and the seafood pate combo pack, as well.

Interesting. All of my cans say "classic", none say classic pate. I always have a stock in my pantry, usually from Chewy, but sometimes I will buy from my grocery store. None say "classic pate". I will watch for that now.

My cat would love to get fancy feast every day, he does get it in his rotation occasionally. He has recently decided he dislikes Costco's Nature's Domain when I still have over half a case left

My babies love it, too. Their second favorite is Friskies pate. I have tried other versions - Elegent Medleys, creamy delights, etc, but all of them prefer the pate. Although, Elegant Medleys does finally make a pate formula.

My cat has gone from sometimes eating it to deciding she doesn't like it at all after all. She hates pates of any brand, and sometimes if I offer her one, she'll refuse that and then start refusing whatever other wet food I offer, too. The only food she eats consistently enough for me to buy a case of is Sheba cuts. Anything else, I buy individual cans so I can make note of this month's preferences. I've got a few cans of fancy feast that I'll be trying again, though. It'd be nice if she'd give them a chance.

If she had it her way, she'd only eat dry Hill's Science Diet. Good thing she doesn't do the grocery shopping around here.
