Menchie is just over a a year old. he eats from a steel bowl, and has never shown signs of allergy. Yesterday night we found his bottom lip swollen like this. What's this from? Should there be concern? Thanks!

I cant guess what it is. But if he were my cat i would have a vet check as soon as i could. It could be any number of things, from no big deal, to way big deal. I am hoping for no big deal. Best of luck, and keep us updated! Pretty boy, i love white cats :)

What a handsome boy!

A swollen lip can occur for many different reasons: kitty acne, teeth problems, allergy, tumors and so on. It's definitely worth getting it checked with a vet just to be sure it's nothing serious.

I'm going to second that. I'd have a vet check it. It could be so very many things, from simple to devastating! Sending lots of :vibes::vibes::vibes:that this will be just a little bit of nothing at all!

My boy had this issue a few times. The first time was due to feline acne, which was treated at the vet. The second flare up was due to getting food on his chin. He needs to eat from a ceramic plate instead of a bowl. Maybe ceramic will help instead of steel? Make sure you clean it after every meal.

My cat had the exact same thing. Allergic reaction - probably from a flea bite (even though she's an indoor cat and we don't have fleas, but we did have a dog visit us....). It went away after about 3 days. She was a yYoung cat, sensitive immune system still developing...She now gets this lip swelling every once in a while and it goes away quickly. Now when it happens its likely from a mild food allergy.
Get your vet to check it anyway - if it persists, it could indicate something more serious, but my money is on allergic reaction.
