My cat has scabs on neck and one on head, she is scratching. She is 10 and gets flea treatment revolution all year long, hair looks thinning by tail, made vet appointment for next week. I thought it was perhaps tiny amount of dry food I give as treat! Any thoughts? I think she got this last fall!

It could be an allergy, to food, or perhaps a cleaning product or something environmental. If she had these symptoms at this time last year, maybe it’s pollen or something carried in on shoes.

Allergy was my first thought, as well, when I saw that you are using a good flea program. Mention to your vet that it occurred last fall, as well.

I have withdrawn all dry food to see if it subsides. She only got a teeny amount because it made her vomit, maybe it makes her itch too.

Let us know if that works. If it made her vomit, that might be your culprit!

Well we got the same shot as last October, it was a steroid/antibiotic. He did a blood test to check thyroid and nothing. He cut her nails. He said if it happens twice a year the shots work as needed, but

She got the same shot she got in October antibiotic/steroid. Doctor said if she needs it twice a year that’s not so bad, if she needs it more perhaps I should go to allergy specialist. She lost a little weight. She got nails clipped too. Scabs gone now. I have withdrawn kibble. Did blood test for thyroid it’s ok. We will see if allergy specialist needed in a month or two.

Keep us posted on how she is doing! Not only do we fret about "our" cats, but each time we go through something like this, we learn something that will help another cat in trouble in the future!

I certainly will. The last shot lasted 5 months. She is mad about no kibble treats anymore but I will give more purebites.

I have the same thing we my little guy. Once in a while he scratches this one area until he bleeds, if I don't catch him. Antihistamines don't work. I going to guess maybe dustmites and I should wash his bedding more often? I don't know.
Hope your little guy is doing well.
