So I could tell that my cat was not feeling well but I did not know was wrong. So I get him to the vet and his anal glands were infected. He had to be sedated and his glands flushed out. He is now on antibiotics. However, the vet thought that she felt either a mass or severe inflammation so she took a needle aspiration. I am waiting for the results but I am thinking it probably is cancer. I was wondering if anyone else’s cat has had this? I read that it is really rare and out come is not good. My poor baby is 10 and I had hoped to have him for a few more years.

Try not to think the worst until you actually know what you are dealing with :alright:. Maybe it's not cancer at all. Hopefully it's not :hugs:. After all, you said it yourself...it's very rare. And, even if it is, I have heard of anal glands being removed before, so isn't that a possibility? Again, let's not go there until we know the true diagnosis. It might just be a cyst.

I did have a cat with anal gland cancer. Wish I'd known then all I know now. A better vet may have been better able to help. I'm sure you know what you're dealing with by now, please let us know.

My baby had numerous issues with anal glands. I agree with mrsgreenjeens, don't think about the worst option. We had her glands removed in the end and I can tell you - the inflammation can get REALLY bad, it doesn't necessarily need to be cancer. It's good that the vet has caught it. I hope everything works out, please let us know the results! :goodluck:
