Are Your Cats Social Poopers?

I noticed that Tuxie, Oscar, and my foster Mandy are social pee and poopers. If I’m in the bathroom doing my business, chances are one of them will come in and use the litter box. Like they’re thinking “oh ok. I had to take a dump too.” I refer to this as social pooping (even though it can be pee too).

Does anyone else’s cat do this?

Oh and videos of Mandy. She's FIV also. I have an all-FIV household.

My cats are HUGE social poopers! They'll wake up from being dead asleep to follow me into the bathroom. I thought they were just being their weird selves, but it's good to know others have experienced the same thing! Haha :D

All of mine are lol and not just with me! They all use the litter box around the same time! Lol and Serenity "sings" when she takes a poop. She just chirps and makes a humming noise and purrs. Lol my step mom says "some people sing in the shower. Serenity sings in the pooper." Lol

Wow, I never thought about this before! I don't have a litter box in any of our bathrooms so I can't answer. We've had so many poop issues lately that my partner now refers to me as the cats' Poop Whisperer. I added too much psyllium to the last batch of raw food and it's backed up Atticus and Thirteen.

As far as social pooping goes, I think I may have to put a box in one of our bathrooms just to see. I can definitely say that if one cat poops the other follows shortly. Same thing with urinating, so I bet my cats would both qualify as social poopers!

Tommy comes in to go pee with me. When he's not doing that, he's climbing to the top of the shelves over the toilet behind me, making me nervous. He'll also open the medicine cabinet and start going through it. Sometimes he just sits on the sink bonking my face with his head.
Basically if mom's pants are around her ankles, it's a free-for-all.

The boxes aren't in our bathroom, but for the longest time, one of our boys would poop in solidarity with me.
