Oh my goodness. What an exhausting day. So yesterday I started coming down with what may be strep throat (I work in the emergency room, so I am exposed to a lot). I worked a 16 hour shift yesterday. Then after I got off immediately went to trapping for my appointments tomorrow. I can take up to three. So I thought my best bet was to trap at different locations... well my colonies are all on different ends of town. So I was running around in circles all day. I didn't end up getting any cats yet from my location that has 5 cats at (the one we caught the two gray cats at a couple weeks ago) we are going to try one last time in the morning to hopefully get at least one there. We got a girl at Clyde's! Its the last solid black cat at his house. SO glad we got her! Then we went to trap at a colony I mentioned a while back... it has an elderly caregiver that I have been arguing with for years to fix the cats. He thinks they are happy as they are. But then one minute will agree to trapping, the next he says leave them alone, the next he says they aren't his cats. It is VERY frustrating. Well I have decided to start trapping there, not on his property but near, secretly. It is getting out of control and the cats are having kittens under neighbors porches and people are calling the city about them. So we trapped at this location last. I am going to call this colony the South Park colony... they are all black cats and brown tabbies. We caught a brown tabby that I believe is a girl! I didn't get a good look at her because we trapped after dark.

I know it is started to get a little overwhelming probably to follow this thread because there are so many colonies so just to regroup...
We have Park Colony, which is the colony I took over trapping when I started this thread. We got two litters of kittens from there, Ghost- broken leg cat, and so far we have gotten three females fixed there. There are other cats fixed there from a group who TNR'd a few years ago. This colony to my knowledge only has one girl left to get... fingers crossed.
We have Clyde's Colony... who has taken over most of the thread. Home to about 15 cats I am guessing we have fixed and rehomed (counting the three kittens) 12 cats from here so far. We also have taken over the care at this colony and feed here daily due to Clyde's health.
We have our Alley Cat Colony. This is a newer colony that we plan to work more with, it is a group of cats (who almost all are tuxedos) that live in a business area but get fed in an alley between two businesses. We started working with them when we were alerted to 3 tuxedo kittens. We were able to catch two kittens that it is suspected were two different litters. We also have gotten a big tom cat neutered there. We still need to get momma and from the trail cam footage there are 2 older kittens that also need TNR'd.
Another newer colony is our Rolling Hills Colony. It is a group of 5 cats, 2 boys three girls, living in a trailer park. We have gotten 1 girl and 1 boy done so far.
Lastly, we have the South Park colony that I mentioned earlier in this post. Ralph is the name of the old man who feeds them, but only randomly agrees to me fixing them. He is an elderly gentleman that stays home and drinks all day according to his neighbors.

This seems like a whole lot, but I have been blessed to have several groups provide funding for our TNR work because they would love to be more involved but they don't have anyone able to trap. I was contacted today by one of the groups if I can help them trap at another colony but I haven't gotten anymore details yet, because I am exhausted from running around today lol. I have stretched myself a little thin lately but I am freaking out about these cats going into heat and getting pregnant. I feel so guilty for every litter born that I couldn't fix. But again I am getting a little run down and I am getting sick. Believe it or not I have a few days off coming up this week- I CAN'T wait!
Thanks for reading my long post lol. Fingers crossed we catch one of the Rolling Hills cats in the morning before we drop off at this clinic!

We didnt catch a cat at our Rolling Hills Colony this morning... we did however catch a kitten at our South Park colony! We had to take her to a couple of clinics because she was only 2.5 lbs and most vets in the area wont spay before 4lbs unfortunately. With the help of another rescue she is now in foster care! She was scared but did let me get her out of the trap to weigh her at the vet!

Here are the two adults we took in yesterday.. the clinic actually didn't have time for them so they moved them to a cage with food and water and they will do them tomorrow!
Pretty sure both are girls, the black one came from Clyde's colony, the brown tabby came from the South Park colony.

Solid black cat has had goopy eyes since we have been working with them. I might keep her a few days and add some antibiotics to her food if I can. I wish I could get some terramyocin on her.

Wow, that's a lot to be dealing with all at once!

When you write down what colonies you are working with and how many cats and kittens you've helped it really shows how much progress you've made.

Take care of yourself, you don't want to work yourself into the ground. I hope you can use at least one of those days off just to relax.

I feel like I can't take a break because if I slow down a little then all my progress is going to be for nothing... it is so overwhelming as we come into kitten season. I would like to get one colony caught up... Clyde's is almost there.

LOVE THAT! And it is so true! And it is why I am so torn when toms are trapped rather than queens. I mean, the pregnancies are so hard for feral queens, and the kittens stand almost no chance, but ONE TOM neutered is 1000s of fewer kittens rather than the 100s if a queen is spayed. Either one is a win in my book!

So we were offered 3 more paid appointments tomorrow for spays and neuters... so 4 total. So we had a trapping frenzy today and go figure it was a hard trapping day. Good news is that we caught one of the two remaining cats at Clydes! The black and white with the triangle on his/her chest. And we caught a tabby at our South Park colony after several hours. We have a trap set at our Alley Colony Location waiting... but it is looking like 2 is all we are getting tonight. Our Rolling Hills cats are still eluding the traps.... I think the caregiver is going to have to use our drop trap...

It was a Different kitty! This one is a girl! I named her Olive! She actually had a spay scar so she must have been one of the ones Teddi TNRed before! They went ahead and ear tipped her and updated her rabies vaccine and she got a dose of Advantage II.

Olive has a very sad face! She is the most social of Clyde's solid black cats. I can always tell her apart from the other solid black cats because of her sad eyes. Clyde says she gets in his lap for pets when no one else is around!
