My cat Luna is extremely affectionate and sleeps with me every night. If she wants my attention she’ll actually lay on my arms so I can’t grab my phone to mess with because I’m obviously supposed to be giving her my undivided attention. She’s actually laying on one of them now making this a bit difficult to type! The only thing is her already usually affectionate behavior is amplified in the bathroom. When I go to the bathroom she follows me inside and if I try to shut her out she will paw and scratch at the door until I cave and let her in. She proceeds to flop at my feet and beg for attention as I go about my routine. If I give in to her (pretty much always because she is adorable) she purrs the loudest I’ve ever heard her. I usually consider her to be a pretty quiet purrer but in the bathroom it sounds like someone just started an engine and it’s not just the better acoustics. If I’m on the toilet she’ll rub in my legs and she tries to jump in my lap if I don’t pet her to keep her on the ground. She’ll actually take her paws and pull my hand to her face and head when I reach toward her but she’s only ever done that in the bathroom. She stands gaurd while I’m in the shower and the moment I sit down afterwards she is all over me trying to put her scent back on me after it dared to wash it off. It’s almost every time I use the bathroom unless she’s asleep. I just want to know if this is normal behavior. Do any of your cats do something similar or is mine just a weirdo?

My previous kitty, Gwen, always went into the bathroom with me, and would also scratch at the door if she found it closed and couldn't get in. I think she mostly had learned that the bathroom was a good place to say 'good morning' and get some attention first thing when I woke up, but she also eventually became obsessed with the shower/bathtub. Cats are funny creatures! It sounds to me like Luna is just looking for opportunities to have your undivided attention, and hates to feel left out of anything.

All my guys ADORE bathroom snuggles. Slightly TMI Maybe, but if Shenka is let in I actually have to pick him up and cuddle him whilst on the loo :lol3: Both he and Grischa are fascinated by everything bathrom, and have both (separately) jumped up on the loo seat behind me too! Crazy boys. Asha just wants pets and attention from the floor, so she's the easiest one to havev in with me. All three will cry at the door to be let in too.

I haven't been able to use the bathroom alone for years!
Another case of TMI, I know, but during the winter months in "sweatpants season" some of them try to crawl into them whilst sitting on the loo and it's a real chore to convince them to get out!

Both of my cats want to be in the bathroom with me. And since it's TMI time - Gizmo, when he was a kitten, would actually climb into my pulled down pajama pants to go to sleep. Naturally, I took pictures. There were a few times he actually hopped up onto my lap too. For now, Stevie is the one who likes to take the opportunity to hop on and lay down which of course turns a minute long bathroom break into something upwards of 10 minutes because you can't move once they've chosen their spot!

I just had the best laugh reading this forum! thanks. out of four cats only one goes in the bathroom with me, and he just sits in the unused sink and watches me. thankfully.

One of my cats who is usually very quiet, used to sit on the bathroom counter and wail at the top of his lungs the whole time I was in the shower. I eventually had to start locking him out after one too many times of him jumping in the shower with me. Now every day when i'm showering he gathers up his 2 favorite toys and puts them outside the bathroom door. It seems me showering causes him stress, but I haven't found a way to stop it.

both of my cats try to get up on the bath tub when I'm in it. I don't let Mojo because she tries to get on the wall side of the bath. She fell in once and it ended up with a panicked kitten scratching my face. Charlie just loves to dip his paw in the bubbles and then he tries to lick his paw, but he doesn't like being wet so he violently shakes his paw. This usually ends up with me getting bubbles and splashes. Then he notices the bubbles and it all starts again.

Coco likes to go into the bathroom when I'm in there, however, she quickly makes an exit as soon as I flush the toilet or run the water to take a shower.

My kitty has recently started following me into the bathroom (and meowing outside the door until I let her in if she didn't manage to follow me) and she is content to just lay on the floor while I'm getting ready or in the shower! It's so funny, and I am more than happy to have her company :hearthrob:

Noodles isn't the most affectionate cat. She's only affectionate with me and sometimes my DD. But it has to be on HER terms. But in the bathroom (especially at 3am) she is all about getting pets. And she likes to climb inside my pants. Especially my jeans if I have those on. She just purrs away and sometimes gets a little whappy if I try to take my pants back.

Missy has been following me to the bathroom from the very beginning (about 2 years ago). She usually jumps in the bathroom sink and lies down, waiting for me to come out of the shower. She likes to watch me when I'm getting ready for work.

My water obsessed cat wants a lift to the counter (since his eyesight is slightly off.) The bathroom is upstairs so it takes a few minutes to warm up. Also there is a water bowl on the counter for my water hog that I change at least 5 times a day ... probably more than that. My attention hog wants to be petted and sits at my feet or jumps on to the tub, sitting on shower mat that gets draped over the edge. If I try to lock them out I get the mystery paw under the door, frantic cries & door rattling. I gave up on peeing in peace years ago and just leave the door open a crack.

They run if I turn on the shower since I used to bathe them in the shower stall :insertevillaugh:

That said I have noticed one of my cats sniffing the other as he uses the litter box. So maybe it is a cat thing?:devilcat2:

So I’m seeing it’s probably another silly cat thing, haha. Luna is my first cat so I didn’t know if she was just being a weirdo. Actually, I think she is definitely kind of a weirdo in general but I wouldn’t have her any other way! All of your stories definitely brought a smile to my face and have been cracking me up!

All three of my cats will come in the bathroom with me though they're all different in how often they do so. Frost just kind of comes in on a whim. Usually he'll walk around and leave unless he can get on the toilet. Sometimes he decides he wants attention and will jump on my lap.

Ash has always had an obsession with the bathroom. Half the time he's already in there when I go in. It's gotten especially bad though because I started turning the faucet on for him hoping he'd drink it. He gets UTIs pretty easily so we try to make sure he gets as much water as possible. However, he just wanted to bite the stream rather than drink it. It's gotten to the point that he just sits there and stares at it, but if I don't turn it on he'll sit there and stare at me. I can handle him being in there, but I don't want to be stared at. The water takes a bit to warm up anyway.

Ember is the reason the door is open for them to get in in the first place. If I shut the door, she stands outside and cries and scratches the door. It's easier to let her in especially since she usually comes in, checks on me, and then waits outside. Sometimes she makes herself comfortable in the bathroom. Sometimes she decides she wants attention which seems to be happening more often lately. I remember once she threw the bathroom door open, meowed at me, and then walked away. If she doesn't stick around in the bathroom, then she's either right outside the door or in my bedroom doorway which is next to the bathroom. She likes to "guard" me a lot though. If I go into my mom's room, she's often standing in the doorway looking out. If I'm in my room then she's usually in there with me and will sit near the door at first.

I do shut the door when I take a shower simply because they'll open the door and then I freeze when I get out. When this happens, I often talk to Ember through the door as I dry off. When I walk out, all three will be there. Ember waiting on me, Ash waiting to get in the bathroom, and I think Frost just doesn't want to be left out.

Wait. There are cat owners who are able to go to the bathroom without having a cat come in demanding pets and scritches? Amazing. :p

My favorite is when she tries to look i to the toilet from behind me to see what I'm doing. Idk why it's so interesting to her.

oh my word that is just adorable!!
The Big Guy sometimes yells if he's on the outside of a closed door but mostly when he gets inside the bathroom it's to get a lift up (sometimes - he's got a lot of fur on his feet and occasionally slips during launch) and waits for the faucet to be turned on for a drink, then he leaves.
but yeah, LOL cats are weird
