@Emily Orson that’s awesome! What a great Christmas present for all of you, and for the shelter workers! It’s so exciting when cats who have been waiting a long time get adopted!

@MoochNNoodles how fun! My daughter was born December 23rd, so we had half-birthday parties for her every August. That helped a lot as far as avoiding all the rush before Christmas. Of course she also got presents in December, so one year she told me what she wanted for her “other birthday”. How many kids are as lucky as that?
That's actually a really good idea. Since Aislyn's birthday is December 28 and Aedan is due any day now, that might be something we'll have to think about doing. Hope you don't mind us stealing your idea!

Las week I dropped my phone in the parking lot at the grocery store (brand new S7, had it for 3 days) and didn't realize it. A very kind man returned it to the customer service desk and then refused to take my reward for returning it. He just told me to pay it forward.

The next day (xmas eve) I was at the check out at a different store and the younger couple in front of me had $40 worth of small toys (seemed to be for a childs' stocking maybe?) Their card was declined twice, I got the cashier's attention and told them to add my stuff on, I'll pay for the whole thing. I added on a $100 gift card for the store and gave it to the couple. The lady cried as she hugged me.

I told them to pay it forward. :redheartpump:

twinkles21 twinkles21 that was wonderful! O that reminds me I found someone's keys on the ground next to their care at Sam's club. I left a note and took the key in with their plate number. I remember thinking I hope the person I gave it to didn't go steal their car! I have faith they did though.

I'm going to say it was a terrible day at work. It got up to a whopping 23 degrees and I was frozen and my body hurt! On the positive my mom go have me some Epsom salt stuff (idk what's in it) and it seems to help some with the nerve damage. Hooray for mom's even when u r grown!

A nice frigid evening. Wind chill of -14 around 3amish tonight. Windy cold day. The furnace is cranking away often and the cats are nice and warm. I put the electric blanket on for Bee Kitty earlier today..she slept most of the day on it.

She did go outside but very short trip. About 3 minutes. I'm surprised she went out to be honest!! She went down to sniff around the oil n gas tanks then came back up...must have been a cat or something that was cruising by...

I got my third generation automated laser toy yesterday, actually my purchase the cats got it.

The other two automatically shut off after approximately 5 minutes. The new one can be set to run 20 minutes and has faster speeds.

Was cute to watch them, they were freaked out when it went fast and kept expecting it to stop:)

That is such a wonderful thing to do! I grew up pretty poor. We always had enough to eat - in large part thanks to a summer garden and canning and my grandparents helping with groceries - but we didn't have many extras. I remember more than one Christmas where I caught my mom crying because she thought she wouldn't be able to give us a good Christmas. Somehow, she always managed to get us a few presents, but it was rough on her. What you did for that family means more than you can imagine. To be honest, though, I think growing up without a lot of money was good for me - especially when I see how spoiled and ungrateful a lot of kids are these days.
I got my lasagna! The oven is preheating. Dinner is gonna be a little late tonight because it took longer than expected to get through Wal Mart.

twinkles21 twinkles21 , I am crying reading about what you did! Oh, you are an angel, there are so many people needing so many things (material and spiritual) that we don't see.
Good to know I'm not the only sentimentalist. ;) I was tearing up too. That was a beautiful act of kindness and one which will not be forgotten by the couple who undoubtedly had a very Merry Christmas. :heartshape:

Shane Kent Shane Kent is this a lazer cat toy that goes on it's own? If so where do I get it and is it expensive? My cats and little dogs LOVE the bazer pointer! I use it as often as I can, and have to try and keep the dogs off of it lol! Laser pointer with a Manx syndrome bunny hopper is twice as fun too! Don't get me wrong though, I love all 13 cats here and 4 dogs!

krisrath11 krisrath11 Epsom salt is 100% pure magnesium. It acts to draw out toxins through the skin if used in baths and soaks. It's very effective at relieving aches and pains by drawing out all the spent fluid stuff that lurks in muscles and glands (that's as technical a description as is needed the now). It can be made into a paste with water to scrub skin and draw out sebum and spot gunk, as well as draw out splinters and other foreign bodies from the skin. It also helps with headaches, which are effected by low magnesium levels, acting as an anti-inflammatory in the brain. I use it on my hands when they cramp up with Raynaud's syndrome, as it draws the blood and gets the circulation going again. It can also be taken internally to flush a backed-up system, and when I say flush, I mean don't be too far from a toilet if you were to consume a teaspoon or two. There are heaps more groovy thing it does, like shines tiles in bathrooms and kitchens, whitens clothes, and even feeds roses up so that they bloom like never before - look it up on the interweb, you'll be pleasantly surprised at what a treasure chest your mum has given you.

I've just woken up. I don't have any students until later this afternoon and the kitties allowed me to sleep until almost 9 this morning. That's so nice of them, I really needed the extra snooze time.

Just enjoying my first mug of coffee while they finish breakfast.

We're almost at 2000 posts! Great job everyone.

Pet stores in the cat toy section. This new one cost me $36 Canadian the other ones were less but I bought them in the past and can't remember the exact price but want to say 20.

I think cat toys are a Mega Pawsitive so this post should count:)

Big Blue laptop warming us both. Made some great cat rescuing contacts on twitter. Tarifa just jumped up beside us. Baby Su has put in some laptime, too. Looking forward to fabulous leftovers from the big non-holiday dinner and a great evening of whodunits and maybe a Dr. Pol or two. Getting SO close to that goal! :runningcat:

Ordered some final baby necessities from Amazon. Little socks and hats and a diaper bag. Really hoping he doesn't come til after the next payday cuz we're close to broke and still need diapers and wipes but, if it comes down to it, his mother can help us out. We needed to get the other stuff early enough to allow for shipping because we paid about half of what we would have buying from Wal Mart, which is really our only option here. Not to mention, our Wal Mart has almost no selection. There are things to love about a small town, but some downsides, too. John gets paid in a week so it should be fine.
