Hello everyone! I've kinda recapped on all the threads I've posted asking for help and I appreciate it, but for anyone who doesn't know I'm Chloe! I've had family cats throughout my life and come from a long line of cat ladies who brought home strays monthly. I'm pretty positive it's genetic. However, I just moved into my own apartment not too long ago and was looking for my first cat. I wanted a baby because it'd been several years and my school schedule is pretty lax right now so I have more time than is typical to raise a new baby. I scoured Petfinder for a very long time, but didn't have much luck through rescues as an 18 year old in an apartment with no other pets believe it or not. However, a friend of a relative that lived several hours away got ahold of me via Facebook and had SEVERAL kittens. I was able to pick one out and have her for free. I made the drive on Monday morning and was a little unnerved by what I saw. The cats were outside and there were 20-30 of them, just all in her yard. Granted, it was a big country house with wide open land and woods, but I live in michigan and it's pretty darn cold around here this time of year. I thought she'd taken them in, but my baby doesn't meow, which leads me to believe mama was feral so she'd never been in the house at all. She's very sweet and playful and as soon as she came home I knew I'd been through the long difficult search and let downs for a reason. It was meant to be. I was worried I may never be able to get one at all because my boyfriend has cat allergies, but she doesn't set him off at all and they are the best of friends. He is filling the role of cat dad quite nicely.
Meet Geneva, or Evie for short! She's 8 weeks old. We named her after a road we passed on the long drive home and it just stuck. She unfortunately has a lot of issues. Today was her first vet appointment and she has a very severe case of roundworm, probably ringworm, severe fleas, and we thought she may be deaf or hard of hearing because she didn't respond to sound, but nope: severe ear mites. Her immune system was too weak for her vaccines today. She has a follow up next week and we're hoping for better news, but we're in love and I just wanted to share! I'm sure I'll be here frequently from here on out. Enjoy a ton of cute kitten pics!
