Artie and his Issues

I am ok...
I had a lot of work done yesterday. A lot more than I anticipated. It took over 2 hours. The entire office staff told me I had a lot done. I am glad I had a ride. By the time I got the scripts, and got home, I was white as a sheet, if not a touch gray, and shaking.

The Periodontist is awesome. I really like him. Very kind, care, attentive, calming. Him and his assistant kept the monologue flowing, as a distraction, and I had my earplugs in, with classical music in the background.

I did not realize how much I physically tensed up my body, until he said, he was done with the extractions...

I had a ton of novocaine, which wore off around 2:30pm. I did take a couple of pain meds late yesterday afternoon and at bedtime.

Made myself a milkshake for supper and a small container of Activia yogurt with the antibiotic.. lots of cold water....
Today, I am a bit weak and shakey.. more Activia yogurt for breakfast, and a small container of it when I take the antibiotic... one moment at a time..

Artie was great with his eating. I think I scared him.. perhaps smell? perhaps keeping the ice bags on my face? What ever it was, he did not bother me at all. He did look at me a couple of times, but did not cuddle.

He did come in to cuddle in bed. I could feel him, as I dozed off and on.
He licked his bowl and his dry food was empty.. back to the dry food kick..but he ate a lot.. His poop is a bit hard, and not much.. Have to give him a bit more lactulose today..sigh...

He is a good boy.. sunning himself on my bed, again..

I am going to go.. just wanted to update .....I may be on periodically during the day, but probably not posting much. I think I want to try to doze .....

I really hope the worst is over and you are beginning to feel better. Artie is no doubt doing an excellent job as Chief Nurse and Cuddler. Please feel better soon!

margd .. that is just what I needed.. Yes, I am getting bored.. which is a good thing, because it means I am feeling better.. I had to go out yesterday to get Artie's meds, because my cousin, who was going to pick them up for me, broke a tooth and had to have it extracted the other day. It was a rough drive for me, driving very slow..could not wait to get home and rest..

Honestly, the experience was not as bad as I had anticipated.
Monday was a rough day, but... still, under the circumstances, and all the work that was done, it was not bad.. I have been through much worse, with my teeth.

FYI, The Pineapple, seems to have helped with the swelling, inflammation. I did have some swelling--not much at all. The inside of my mouth, which is usually very swollen, was not bad at all... and I followed the post-op directions to a "T"; especially with regards to medication. Today is my last day of the advil/tylenol combo.. I have to take it for 4 days, regardless...

I was really surprised when the Periodontist said to brush my remaining teeth, the day of surgery, at night.. I was very confused about that, but I have faith in him..so I tried it...just a bit.. Believe it or not, I was able to open my mouth enough to get the toothbrush in, to brush, and then to wipe down the surgical areas, with a Q-tip, with the antibiotic rinse... I was really amazed...

Artie, well, Artie left me alone, all day on Monday.. Kind of a good thing, because I was constantly getting up for ice packs.

Tuesday, he was kind of trepidatious of cuddling on my lap. I had to call him over.. He did not stay long... but he is a cuddle bug in bed!!

Wednesday, Artie was a cuddler... Always talking to me, following me around..
He has been eating good, and pooping. He is not sure what went on, because, I have not been cheering him on for his poops.. A bit hard to verbalize some words...

He did not get a brushing for a few days.. Yesterday, when I asked if he wanted to be brushed, he RAN to the cat tree. He got a good brushing.

Today, He is a complete, PAIN...in the butt.. He was refusing his food, jumping on the dining room table.. sniffing and trying to chomp on papers!! My instructions from the dentist.. He has been very active with that table. The tablecloth is all askew. I have been chasing him off of it constantly..
Just ate a time bit.. will not calm down for his sub-q's..

I have to rewarm the fluid bag.. he is still pacing around, getting into mischief. He does not know what is going on... Perhaps it is the sudden 'Quiet' from the renovations???

Just gave him his sub-q's while he is on the cat tree.. he is so good about them.

Going to brush my teeth and take a shower...
