I love biscuits...we had those the other night-I may pop into grocery store and get the ones premade-they come out really good. And strawberrys/cool whip too, is that allowed for dinner?!

Supper is a spinach/greens salad, nuts, fruits and Italian dressing with a side of chicken and corn on the cob-probably the last one of the year-it's not as sweet anymore.

I actually like the frozen ones that come in a bag. They taste almost as good as homemade, and I can take out one or two and reseal.

Our dinner last night was horrible. The pizza dough wasn't nearly thawed. I always keep frozen dough in the fridge until it's completely thawed, then take it out at room temp for 2-3 hours to help it rise. Well, there was no way we were having pizza yesterday.

So Rick suggested going to Red Lobster. The problem was that we got there and I think every person within a 30 mile radius was at Red Lobster last night; it was packed to the gills, packed outside. At least an hour wait....and Rick was hungry. He suggested Ruby Tuesday. OK.

We started with the salad bar (something we don't normally do, but he was hungry). I tried the potato salad.....worst potato salad on the face of this earth. Awful, awful stuff. One bite told me not to go there again. We both ordered a steak. The steak was OK; mine was cooked rare and I was OK with that. I had ordered a baked potato. It was so over-cooked that the flesh was brown....the skin was burnt. I opened it, but no way was I going to eat it. When the server came back to see how we were doing, I showed her the potato, which essentially looked like a little brown nugget of.....something. Her response? "Yeah, I thought it was over-cooked." Seriously? Then why in the world would you serve it? Rick had breaded shrimp, which he thought was be OK. The panko was so thick, it was disgusting and Rick peeled the breading off before he ate the shrimp. The manager came out and he did give us a discount on our meal. He said about it being so busy, but I told him that's really no excuse and busy is not the word to use when there are 7 tables, at most, being used in the restaurant.

We've been to RT before and never had a bad meal. This? Awful. On the way home, Rick suggested we stop at a local Perkins and console ourselves with a slice of caramel apple pie and a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

So this morning, I took the finally-thawed pizza ball out of the fridge, took it out of the bag, plopped it into a greased bowl and covered it with plastic wrap. I'll take it out of the fridge around 1 or so as I'd like to try for an early dinner tonight, around 4.

Yes the mixed salads with mayo at most places SUCK. I don't know why-I don't know if they just water down the mayo or forget egg/pickles but I got to the point we rarely go out-unless it's buffet style and lots of choices. I cringe when I go to restaurants. I used to be a cook for MANY years and when I see instant potatoes with nothing in them along with overcooked meat-ick. At least at home when I use instant potatoes-I add butter, pepper, salt, diced onions and whip it.

I didn't eat the salad last night-I was a bad girl. it was potato sticks. then corn on the cob. I was full. Today I got my salad for my lunch. Still have tons of food from my shopping to finish up. uck. Now I know why I hate buying large quantities of food-then I don't want it now.

Gonna do salad tonight anyways. Jon at broccoli cooked with Italian dressing...and chicken. Tonight will be the same. Veggies and chicken.

Yet again, I have no clue. There are any number of possibilities at this point. However, I am feeling "bakish" yet again, and am thinking of adding a tiny bit of sugar to my biscuit dough, cutting out the rounds, plopping a small amount of one of the three preserves I have onto each, folding it over and making tartlets of a sort. I shall endeavor NOT to make fruit tarts my entire supper, but it could happen.

On Sunday morning, while I was messing around with laundry and housecleaning, I threw together a pot of chili and let it simmer for an hour or so. Dished it into quart freezer containers, labeled and stuck in the freezer. The bit that was left, I flopped into the fridge. Rick is having that for dinner tonight. I don't know what I'll have when I get home from my meeting, but I'm thinking along the lines of something with tuna, maybe a sandwich.

OOOOOH! Getting to be chili season! I don't bother with it during very hot weather, it's just too much, but we're almost there in NC! AND I found out that Perfect Size for One cake mixes also do cornbread, so I'll stock up on that, as well!

Tonight? I'm thinking an omelet.

Ooooo, an omelet sounds good. Or maybe a frittata. Yeah, a frittata in the air fryer. And I want toast, too! I've been wanting a slice of toast for a while now. Or maybe an English muffin.....with a wee bit of strawberry preserves; my sister just gave me a jar of her homemade. Now I'm hungry.....for breakfast!

I don't know. I just don't. I have no clue whatsoever. I do have pasta sauce thawed, so probably spaghetti, unless I get a sudden craving for tuna salad, which would at least use up the last of the diced onion. I don't know...

I vote for the pasta sauce and spaghetti but use the diced onion with a few more veggies in the sauce to spice it up.

Grill night. We like to do enough for more than one meal. So it will be some pink salmon for me and a couple pork chops for him.

I was a bit chilly driving around today. Actually, I was ok, until I stopped at the dealership to tell them that I thought something was 'off' on my car. To my surprise, they made me wait, called the head mechanic over to check out my car--immediately. to my surprise, ti was ok.. I even spoke with the mechanic about it.. so....

I got chilled waiting in the AC for it..
:hijack:

Back to the topic...
A small chicken pot pie. There is a great store, next to the Vet, who makes them. I had to pick up Artie food.. so I said, what the heck!! I have to eat softer food, for a while.. missing my salads...
