Does anyone have a recommendation for improving Stewart's appetite and maybe more important keeping things down? He has barfed twice today.

He was just diagnosed with slight pancreatitis. Same food as usual. Wife tried kaopectate but he still Barfy. He can't see vet til Monday. We are also running out of options for soft food but he likes to try but can't keep things down. Wife wonders if he could have an impacted furr ball but don't know how to tell for sure or what to do if it is true.

Last night Stewart was too weak to jump up on the bed. He ate a little this morn and seems to be keeping it down, but we are so worried about him- no complaining, but he meows so pitifully. I did set up some books so he can get in his cuddle-cup. I just wish he would eat. Our little fat boy is so skinny.

When my cats have been sick and don't feel like eating, I usually mix chicken baby food (the kind with nothing in it but ground chicken) with a little water or lactose free milk. I think high protein is good for pancreatitis but you should probably check that out with your vet.

You said he might have a hairball, are you treating him for hairballs? What brand of food are you feeding?

Vet said, and X-ray confirms constipation. He is getting a treatment now. We have some boiled chicken for him. Just hope he does well on the anesthesia. Cali didn't so I am worried and stuck at home while the wife sits with him. It is good, I guess, to know what the problem is. Now I just need to know what to feed him now that he hopefully feels better.

Thanks, that is something we have not tried, he won't eat stuff after he throws it up. Like everyone I suppose.

Some baby food is bad for kitties-no fiber- I thought I would mention it. Mom lost her kitty - Therica - such a sweetheart - to baby food. The bad kind

Stewart is better. He survived what we call "crazy kitty eyes" all pupils. Caught him just sitting and you could tell he was like "look at the pretty lights". He was eating his crunchy food so hopefully he has turned the corner.

What treatment did the vet give him for constipation? What is a cuddle cup?

A cuddle cup is just a bed with walls in Stewart's case, shaped like a sockmonkey, the vet Just gave him an enema, I don't know what chemicals if any. He acts better but still no pooping.

How long has it been since he pooped? Usually they give something with fiber in it or oils. I just use hairball paste or treats when my cat is constipated. But maybe he hasn't eaten enough to make a good poop.

My cat has had a constipation problem along with her stomatitis and my vet put her on medication (a laxative) for it. She's actually still taking it, and the vet says she may need it for the rest of her life as she doesnt seem to be regular with her bowel movements anymore. She had an enema and that helped a bit, but it wasn't enough to fully fix the problem.

Honeybee on my lap, music playing in background
meat babyfood like gerber is fine to feed on short term.

What kind of food-brand did you get?

I use canned pumpkin to keep the bowels moving. Plain pumpkin in the baking aisle. It's 1/2 to 1 teaspoon daily. Takes a day or so to get results.

Some cats will lick it up off your finger and others hate it. I smear a small fingertip onto the roof of the mouth of my other girl who hates pumkin but it does it's job in 12 hours for her.

If feeding dry food constipation is often a problem. In my house they won't eat wet no matter what kind I buy. I use canned pumpkin or miralax per my vets instructions. I dilute it in a shot glass of hot water and add to a teaspoon of canned dark tuna-they lick the juice and get the medicine or you can syringe it when the water cools down. Ask your vet about this.
