A few days ago I brought home a four month old kitten (she's a ragdoll) and ever since my dog (he's a king charles cavalier cross japanese spitz) found out what room she was staying in he has been constantly going up to the door and sniffing, whining, scratching and just watching the door. My family and I are trying to introduce them twice everyday for a little while but he gets way too over excited about our new kitten that he doesn't really want to listen to anyone but the good news is that he isn't showing any signs of aggression. Any advice, opinions or personal experiences with this would be greatly appreciated if you shared them with me. Thanks! :)

The fact that he's excited about her and wants to play is really good actually. As she gets a bit bigger she won't be afraid to set her boundaries and she will either choose to play back, or she will scratch him and tell him to back off- sometimes it's a mix lol. With him being a small dog that seems to be non aggressive I would just continue the small introductions until the two are comfortable around each other and then you can boost the times together until she eventually has free roam of the house.
Our mini schnauzer LOVES our cats. My Balinese grew up with her and they are best friends, they play non stop and honestly I think she thinks she's a dog too now. My persian however, politely declined the dogs advances in friendship, they live a life of tolerance

Thank you so much for your reply! I think I just needed to hear it from someone else that they would both be fine and at least learn to tolerate each other

Spaniels tend to be excitable dogs but not aggressive. It sounds as if your dog wants to play with his new friend. Just take the introduction slowly as not to scare your kitten as your dog must seem HUGE. Enjoy your new friend.
