I put two drops of an ear cleaner (not medicated) because he had wax buildup (no coffee grain dirt, color is fine) so I'm fairly certain it's not infected. But it's been several hours and he his still sensitive when I try to touch his ear. He is shaking his head occasionally and has scratched a few times. Is this normal after giving drops? Thanks!

Yes it's sounds normal. Whenever I put drops in my cats ears, they shake their heads for quite a few hours and won't come near me in case I put more in. I think your dog feels the same.

Okay great that's good to know, thank you! He's a cat. He's still shaking his head a little bit today. Hopefully by tomorrow he's not doing it anymore. Thank you!

I agree with others here, when I've had to put drops in Mouse's ears he hates it (even more than eye drops and that's saying something). He will shake his head for ages afterward. Definitely doesn't want me near his ears for the rest of the day. I guess it's like when we get water in our ears and it goes right in - most annoying.

Yuck it is annoying, I feel terrible but he was scratching at his ear and when I check it out I saw it was full of wax. He's had one prior ear infection from a food allergy and this definitely looked nothing like that and he wasn't shaking his head like he did when he had the infection. So I just figured it was regular wax buildup and a good cleaning solution would help. Now I feel like I did more harm than good :-/
