Excellent update, jesscarlett jesscarlett . The fever coming down, and Salem eating, peeing and pooping is all good. Playing would be expending too much energy, right now, so Salem will be using that energy for healing...in time, she'll be back to her old self.

I did want to ask you about the part where you said 'constant purring'. Is purring not a normal thing for Salem, or did you just mean that it was non-stop? Sometimes cats do self-soothe, while purring.
Don't have to answer this question, tonight, but rather I hope you catch up on all the sleep you missed last night, and have a better sleep tonight, as well. Continued Health vibes for Salem are being sent your way. :bluepaw:
Hello! Sorry for the late response. Today was a hectic day! Been out the whole time. Now I am finally able to rest. What I meant by constant purring was that she would not stop purring at all. She does purr a lot when I pet her and stuff, but never this much and on her own (as in without me touching her) so that's why I was worried. Maybe she was hurting and purring was a way to relax herself a bit. She is doing just fine as far as I can see. Has not been interested in playing yet but she has been herself for the most part. I love my baby so much and I hope she continues to be well! I don't want to go through this worry again.

I'm so glad she is feeling better. As far as playing? I wouldn't encourage it right now. Like a sick kid I would just over dote on her. You did a great job of getting her to the vet and following up. So glad she's on the mend.
Thank you very much! She has been doing well today too! I think whatever it was she had it got treated just in time and now it's gone. Hopefully.

No worries, on the response time, IRL (in real life), always gets busy.
Yeah, that makes sense about the purring, a way to calm and relax a bit. Another member here, MServant, mentioned how cat purrs are very therapeutic, so maybe they are therapeutic to cats, too. Can Your Cat’s Purr Heal?
Anyhow, it's great that she is feeling better, and will no doubt be back to her usual self in a week, or two.

I just noticed that one side of her face has black whiskers, and the other side has white whiskers. That is awesome.
Continued health vibes for Salem. :vibes::vibes::vibes::blackcat:

Hello everyone, I just wanted to make a quick update regarding Salem's health. She has been her normal self these past dew days after her visit to the vet, but since yesterday she has started to constantly sneeze. She has been sneezing non stop and nothing but a clear liquid drops come out of her nose when she does sneeze. I'm just wondering, should I be concerned with these symptoms and take her to the vet again or should I just leave her be and wait for it to go away? It started suddenly. Thanks in advance for your input.

Where do you think?
Maybe she has a bit of a cat cold. Wait a week and see If it clears up by itself. If it gets worse or has puss Or she totally refuses to eat take her in sooner.

Cats often won't eat with a stuffy nose.

Constant sneezing is worrisome, since Salem is already on antibiotics.
But if she is eating, and using her litter box, peeing and pooping, then she may still be getting over her initial symptoms.

Can you video-tape what you are seeing, and pass by your Vet's clinic, or email them, to get their input on what they could possibly do?
Also, if she lets you, can you check her teeth, and see if any of the gumline looks red, or inflamed, irritated?
Sometimes Vets do not do thorough dental checks, unless we ask for them.

So I took her to the vet since I had to take one of the foster kittens as well for her follow-up shot. The vet felt and heard Salem's breathing and at one time she sneezed while she was getting checked out and the vet told me she felt a bit of fluid in her lungs. I got really scared and I asked if it was something horrible like pneumonia and she said not to worry about it much, that it wasn't like her lungs were full of liquid, just that she felt something when she sneezed. She saw what the other vet had done to her and didn't wanted to give me any antibiotics because the convenia was still in her system. So what she gave me was some Prednisone 5mg tablets. I have to give 1/2 a tablet every 24 hours for 4 days, then give her 1/2 tablet every 2 days. Salem is eating, pooping, and peeing well. She hasn't been lethargic and doesn't seem to be in pain, but the constant sneezing had me worried. I really hope she gets over this and doesn't get worse. Also no coughing or puking, just sneezing.

Ok, the only confusion I have is that prednisone is an immune suppresant. If your kitty is sick, this would make her immune system weaker. not sure why the vet chose this--also, did the vet check for pancreatitis? That can make kitties feel terrible. Usually a high fever does not come with pancreatitis, but my girl got sick last summer and her fever was horrid--she was panting and in agony and I nearly lost her then. We slammed her system with 4 types of antibiotics and the fever broke---I was a mess and up all night with her. My vet was wonderful and we did fluids for 4 days to help flush the virus. I think it triggered pancreatitis for her too because her levels were off the charts. Her latest photo she looks great!! Much more alert and perky so I hope things continue to improve!!

Hello everyone! I'm sorry for not giving any updates. My life has been a rollercoaster these past few weeks and things have gone downhill these past few days. I have been extremelly upset and depressed. But that aside, Salem's sneezing stopped! She seems 100% back to her old self and I am extremelly happy about it. Thank you all for the advice and support!
