looking for a little advice, please.
It seems my cats should have 210 calories a day. They have 150 calories of wet food and a small handful of kibble. So... how come they're overweight by about two pounds each? They are house cats but they race around and play. And... with that limited a diet, two pouches of wet food and mixed kibble.

Depending on the kibble, even 1/4 cup could have 100 calories.

If your vet feels your kitties need to lose a little weight at some point, it needs to be done very gradually. If a cat's caloric intake is suddenly and dramatically cut back, they can get very sick from something called hepatic lipidosis (fatty liver disease).

kibble - the amount we put in the bowl doesn't anywhere near cover the bottom of the bowl. They get either Purina's Go-Cat or James Wellbeloved Turkey biscuits. I plan on switching them to James Wellbeloved House Cat biscuits when they finish this packet. 1/4 of a cup, no, nowhere near.

Kai is a horror cat, won't eat wet food unless there's kibble on top. So... we rattle the packet, put our hand in, shake it around a bit, pull out all of three biscuits and put them on the meat. Literally, three biscuits. Then he's happy and will eat the food... Crazy but there it is, it works.

Not seen the vet, we did the 'one person on the scales, one person on the scales with cat' routine and they both came out at 2 pounds more than they were six months ago.
