So we have a 3 y/o male ragdoll cat who is very sick. He has very stiff front legs and can't walk. He has a fever of 103. He had a tick on him a few days ago. We took him to the vet and they Don't know what's wrong. They put him on antibiotics and that didn't help after 24 hours. The doctors think that it may be neurological. He also can't support his head and he can't get up to use the bathroom. He is still at a specialist and this will be his second night there.

Did the vet do any bloodwork? That would show any abnormal blood values that may indicate disease or something like poisoning. Did you mention to the vet that your cat had a tick? Ticks can carry disease and a bite would become infected and can cause neurological issues, at least according to Cornell's vet school: http://www.vet.cornell.edu/fhc/Health_Information/Ticks.cfm

The vets have done a numerous amount of blood work. They do know about the tick and are awaiting results for Lyme disease

Im Sorry Your cat is sick. Neurological Vetnarians are very expensive, if he is not eating or drinking. I had a similar illness in our cat family & made the decision none of us enjoy. Just last month we premade plans after the vet gave a 2nd diagnoses. She said by they way his blindness attacked him & he was very stiff, lethargic .
I didn't realize he became blind that night in Morning I helped him eat & water.

Anyway he came down with Brain Cancer. I have 14 cats now most are old or were. We took the private cremation & when my time comes I will have my cats burial boxes & make our guidance to the bridge,

Please don't take the easy way out and spend time with him if this isn't able to controll. God bless you & Cat

Update. Jeter continued to worsen. His kidneys started to fail, and his fever went up. We had to put him down today.

All the tests came back Negative. The vet said that it was probably a blood clot that went to his brain, but we don't know for sure, we probably won't ever know for sure.

Condolences on your loss of Jeter - you gave him every fighting chance that was possible. I had to send my disabled daughter's 18yo cat over the Bridge today - I like to think that Jeter was there on the other side to welcome her and together with the other TCS kitties, will be looking down upon us.

On behalf of the TCS Team, we offer our sincere condolences.  We'll lock the thread now out of respect for your loss, and invite you to post a tribute to Jeter in our Crossing the Bridge forum.
