Hello all,

I am desperate anything can help ,please!

I have a 1 and half year old female white Persian cat, we introduced her to another Persian make in august 28 and she stayed over. So she is pregnant now.

I called my vet and he gave me a price of 700 to do tests etc. I don’t have money for this , I am not a breeder .

I noticed my cats breasts became pink and have black dots all around it. Is this normal?? She is completely white so it looks scary when I look at her breasts. She started eating a lot! She is in a good health happy , so I think if she had pain or something I would noticed.

I need to know if anyone has this before and when to expect kitties. I heard Persians always have issues delivering , so I am a bit scarred .

I just want to hear stories anyone who had any experience.

Thank you so much@ Inga

Hello and welcome!

What does the vet plan to do for $700? What  tests did you ask for or did they recommend?

There are a lot of good articles about pregnant cat and kitten care out there. Here is one from the web:

http://www.2ndchance.info/felinelabor.htm

Here are some from this site:

The average pregnancy in a cat is 64 days so if your queen mated on August 28th, she's about 6 weeks or 42 days in. Her body is preparing itself so the pink nipples are normal. Let her eat as much as she wants. She and the kittens really need that nutrition.  Any cat, regardless of breed can have issues during the birthing process. When her time comes, stay as close as she will allow. Some cats want their person close by while they deliver- others do not. She will let you know if she needs you. Most cats get through the delivery just fine and I'm sure your girl will also.

Can you post a picture of her belly? Pictures of the rest of her would be good too. We just love pictures of cats. There's no such thing as too many. Hang in there. It is scary but the two of you will get through this pregnancy and birth together.

I hope you'll be able to scrape up the money if she needs an emergency c-section----anyone who breeds their cat needs to be prepared for that. It would be a real shame to let her die because you wanted kittens but weren't prepared. But unless she shows some signs of distress, there really isn't any need for a lot of interventions during pregnancy. I'm not sure what tests your vet was talking about.

Just keep an eye out for any signs of anything abnormal (and call the vet if anything bad happens), but she should be able to take care of things herself. Cats have been having kittens for a long time ;). Persians do have large heads, so that may increase the chance of complications, I don't have any experience with them. It would be nice if you could talk to a Persian breeder. Is the male's owner a breeder?

I don't have experience with breeding Persians either but @posiepurrs  does. She might be able to offer some advice.

Agreed. You do need to start thinking like a breeder and anticipating a breeder's expenses when you decide to breed your cat.

Do you have a breeder friend who can advise you?

You should call around and find a vet whose prices are not so high, so that if/when your cat needs vet care, it will be more reasonably priced.

Is it all of her nipples, or just that one?

Also, are the dark spots part of the skin?

My guess is that it is harmless pigmentation changes caused by her increased hormones, particularly since she is white it tends to really show up, much like freckles.

I don't think that there is anything to do about it. I agree with @sarthur2  that it is harmless hyperpigmentation due to the increase in hormones. They are likely more common that people know but harder to see on a cat that isn't white. You can keep an eye on it but I don't think it's anything to worry about.

She really is a beauty. Do you know what the father looks like? Those kittens are going to be gorgeous
. I adore Persians. I have 2. Well- domestic longhaired since they have no papers but a blind man could see that they are Persian.
