What? You won a cast iron BBQ skillet?? When? OMG, how cool! I can't wait for you to try it out! You'll have to tell us all about it...

Just got into work and am drinking my coffee. Really tired this morning; we didn't get much sleep last night at all. It's going to be a long day. I'd really like to go over to the farmers' market today at lunch, but with the mood I'm in, I think it's too dangerous. Too many cookies and pastries over there and it would be a battle right now. Best to stay away.

I tried it out yesterday. I grilled some chicken breasts while the peppers and onions were cooking, then sliced up a couple and added them to the pan and added homemade fajita seasoning to it with a little water. They were really good and it was easy to use. I think I'm going to try it soon with green beans while I grill meat.

Trying to keep cool. SO HOT OUT. And 75 in the house. We actually have a cool front coming through that is gonna put us in the low 60s, which will be quite welcome after 90 today. So weird how I was comfortable most of the day and then suddenly night fall comes, and I am just SO hot!

Looking to see if anything interesting is on TV tonight. Not really. Looking through the recorded stuff to see what else there is.

It was 93 out here in the burbs. Like a furnace when you open the door. The hardware store called and my screen door with the pet screen is ready for pickup. Yay!  If the heat comes back after tomorrow, I won't be leaving the door open, though. It's quite cool in the house - AC set at 76, which is almost too cool since it removes the humidity. Mingo is also quite cool, but he does sneak off to the basement sometimes, where it is frigid.

It was really warm here, too; I think we made it to 92 yesterday. And very windy, which continues this morning. Out sustained winds today will be 20+ mph. No rain today, so we'll be outside most of the afternoon, I think.

Just finished giving the kids their breakfast and am working on my first load of laundry. Dear Richard says he's going back to bed for another couple of hours, so I'm going to hang out on the computer for a while, til it's time to put that first load into the dryer.

Even though I slathered myself in bug stuff yesterday, I fought bugs all day. And I have several huge welts to prove it. They all itch madly, too, so I'm turning into a scratching fool. I hate bug bites! And no matter how much I spray myself and how often, I always end up with big welts on me.

I'm sitting in my TV chair. The TV is off. The ex has gone out for the day with daughter and family to give me a break. They didn't invite me because they know I would say no. They're going to the sea of Galilee. It'll be crowded. Screaming kids. People doing BBQ's. Just my sort of thing ha ha ha.
It's hot out but until I get really hot I won't put the ac on.
I'm reading threads. Part way through the newspaper. Cheerful reading. It's Friday's so all about the tel aviv shooting. Today is a Jewish holiday so no newspapers.
I've nearly finished my strange book. Where has the book thread gone to?
Being as I've only been here 3+ years I don't know how to start threads or put existing ones on. Anybody want to teach me? I'm not a quick learner by the way.
Nothing worth watching on the TV. I missed a programme about Zubin Mehta, world famous conductor from India. Sorry about that.
That's it. A fun day. Have a good day jen and you'all. Hugs to all of you.

Right below the last post in any column is a button that says "Start A New Thread"=its in gray and has two bubbles right before the words-you click on that and you can start a new thread in whatever forum you are reading in or you go to forums and select the category and there should be a button for new thread at the very top or very bottom.

DreamerRose DreamerRose , it's a lovely 63 in Glenview right now  so hopefully it's nice in Naperville too! Winchester Winchester , hope it's cooled off a bit in your neck of the woods too!

Having my morning coffee, enjoying the cool front that came in overnight. It's absolutely gorgeous out. Have the front door open to enjoy the nice breeze.

@Donutte  It's cool here,  too, and just gorgeous. Trying to decide whether to shower and go to church or pull weeds and then shower. I still have plants left to put out - glad to see other members are still putting them out - and they nearly expired in the heat yesterday. Wish this cool temp could stay with us for a few days.

No, I have not seen it.. Crimson Field....hummmm let me guess......Civil war or WWI
yes, WWI! it's about civilian nurses in a triage/'hospital', up near the front lines. i thought the first episode was quite good.

there's another tv show i'm really enjoying lately, Turn: Washington's Spies on AMC.

right now, waiting for the bread machine to finish baking a loaf of bread. it should be finished in about 5 more minutes. the smell of fresh baked bread is heavenly!

I have watched Turn, since the beginning. I do binge watch it. I enjoy having two hours each time I view; then I can really get into the story. I feel it should be a 2 hour episode. The only thing is, the season is so short ~~ just a few episodes.

I did purchase the book it is based on. I tried reading it last summer, but it was slow moving. I may re-start it soon.

I tried reading the book, too, and was very disappointed.

i've just recently discovered Turn, so i'm working through the episodes from the beginning. i generally watch two episodes at a sitting too.

yes, the short season thing that seems to be the new way series are being aired. i really don't like it.
makes me feel like as soon as i'm really getting into the episodes again, the show goes 'on hiatus'.

well, i'm done with most everything i'm getting done today. time for me to watch a tv show or two, then maybe work on my jigsaw puzzle for a bit.

Back to work this morning. We had a nice weekend, outside pretty much the entire two days and we managed to get quite a lot done. I planted window boxes out at the shed and Rick put some new flowers in the bed in the front yard. He planted the cannas and the elephant ears, got the pool cleaned and we both worked on some weeding. Nice weekend.

So I'm sitting here, drinking my morning coffee, and figuring out what all needs to be done today here at work.

I think I'm ready to retire. Seriously.
