Does anyone feed a small amount of dry for one meal and then wet for maybe the 2 other meals? I be been feeding a little of both at each meal and he seems to tire of it. I leave pure bits out in a foraging food toy as well.

I give Katy both dry and wet food, simply because she came from a shelter where they fed only dry food. I am gradually trying to ween her off the dry to just wet, but it is not an easy job. Of alllllll the brands of wet food, I have found she likes the "Sheba" chicken and turkey pate the best, she will go to that first and then to the dry. I had a very hard time getting her to accept wet food at all. Through trial and error, I seemed to find her brand. If there is any wet left over, I just pour it into one of the bowels I fix for my ferals next feeding. Nothing goes to waste. I do look forward to the day I can stop with the dry.

Fortunately, Paul and Chula will eat wet and dry food.  I feed them 3 small helpings of canned food during the day and then leave a little kibble out overnight so they won't wake me up looking for food.  I've done this with all my cats and it's always worked well.  For cats with specific medical needs or a kibble addiction, this might not be appropriate, however.

This is exactly what I do with Gizmo, and it works well. He usually only eats 1/8 cup a day of dry.

I feed raw, wet, and kibble, but I have several kittens under a year old. They eat raw in the AM, kibble and wet as a snack, raw/wet in the PM, and kibble/wet overnight.

My cat is a male and weighs 9.5 lbs at 8 yrs old . He used to weigh more when he was younger but his weight has fluctuated over the years. He is a small boned cat so the vet says this is a good weight for him.
I feed him wet and dry but have read that it is better for older cats to eat mostly wet. I limit dry to a 1/4 cup per day and would like to cut it back to 1/8. I feed Orijen and Acana.
He had a UTI last year so I bought a fountain and he does well with that. I m afraid he won t eat enough wet to keep weight on. The Orijen is about 63 cal. How much wet would I need to feed him.

 I think so . If Psycho ( awesome name btw )   seems satisfied and not constantly begging for food he is most likely getting enough .

Thanks. He s a black cat too. He does not beg for food and if I put more out he does not eat it. He seems to self regulate his food intake.
Some days he may eat more but then he ll cut back the next day. Does that seem odd for a cat?

Thank you for confirming that your cats do it too. I am not used to a cat that does not gorge himself. He probably has good appetite I just falsely think he is not eating enough. My husband says I worry too much.

You are welcome . You can always give him a snack at night before bed if it makes you feel better ..

@psychomama

I do exactly what @Margd does: I feed Bud two meals of wet food a day, and then dry food for night/overnight snacking. I also do it for the same reason, so he can just pad over to his bowl at 4 a.m. instead of waking me up because he's hungry.

FWIW I also have separate bowls for his wet food and dry food. It just makes life easier, and there's less waste because I'm not tossing out a bunch of dry food that's gotten mixed and all damp with wet food.

I am still figuring Lil Bit's food out. She gets a half of can of Fancy Fest of the morning and half in the evening she also gets some dry fancy fest she really likes. I give her half a cup in the morning and maybe another half before bed she grazes on all night. I also give her some Tempations dairy treats once a day. She loves them so much if she hears the bag she runs to me.

I worry she doesn't get enough she will be 10 months on the 16th.
