Hey all

My 5 months old kitten is a quiet little ball of fur. She likes to spend her time alone, and isn't much active. I'm not sure of her breed, but I did ask about Sally here in the breeds forum, and the best possible guesses were either mixed Persian or British longhair.
Anyway, Sally is very shy, she comes to me only when she needs food, and doesn't like it when I hold her or play with her.
The other problem is that she is very shy and gets very scared from guests and new people. Her favorite hiding spot is under the bed, and whenever someone comes to visit me, she sprints as fast as she can under the bed.

Is this normal for kittens her age? I'm feeling worried that she might have something wrong with her.

Appreciate all your opinions.

If you have any concerns, a vet check is a good idea. Cats are masters at hiding illness or injury and a vet will be able to rule that out.

That being said, some cats are very timid and not naturally inclined to meet new people. Our Random is going to be three this winter and his first reaction to anyone (even us some days) is to bolt and hide. Some cats just aren't that brave.

I had a cat years ago that would hide when we had guests. She wasn't a people cat. She was only out and about when we were home with her. If company came over she would hide until they left. She did that even after my two DD were born. They hardly saw her until she got old but they knew not to mess with her.

Some cats just aren't interested in meeting new people. I had two other ones at the same time and I couldn't keep them out of the room when we had friends over.

Blighty runs when people come. He's so-so friendly. Loves.to be stroked when he wants it. Is still a scaredy cat, even with us.

She has been to the vet two times already, and apart from fleas issue, he said she is great. I got the flea spray and her issue is solved. I just hope with time she gets more friendly and playful. Gonna try catnip with her soon to see he reaction.
Thanks for the reply. Have a good day
