Update on lavender Worlds Best: cat HATES it, doesn't cover his poop in the box, and for the first time I can remember, pooped just outside the litter box. And this is a FASTIDEOUS cat.

It doesn't dry out poop like most clumping litters, by the way. Surprising, because it does clump the urine well. But doesn't control poop smell--because my cat refuses to touch it.
Nope, will never buy this stuff again.

Thank you so much for that video! I wish she would've spoken more about which dusts up and tracking. I'm still in the hunt for a litter that doesn't dust, track, and scoops.

I have an F3 and F4 Bengal, is that to say every clumping litter is bad or just the ones made of clay? Because WBCL it's made of corn and I've heard some people use chick fed as a dupe for WBCL as it is cheaper and works just the same.

Has anyone tried Okocat wood litter? Reminds me of oatmeal. The clumps are a little harder to scoop but it's worth it. For the first time the box in my master bath doesn't have an odor. It's hard to find in stores but available on Amazon and Chewy.

The long hair variety is terrible because it is pellets instead of flakes.

Was wondering if anyone has tried the pine version. It's $6.00 cheaper then the regular wood for the 18 pound box.

We had planned on getting him a companion cat shortly after we got him, but he costs us so much we can't afford a second cat....he seems to need the best of everything, and if we cheap out, he reacts badly
I don't know how much is too much for you, but after you got everything for your current cat, for a second you just need to increase the food and litter box by about 50%. Your cat's behavior will get better, he/she will have someone to play when you're not home and they'll share the toys and house you already have. If you only have 1 litter box then you would need to get another.

I've been using tidy cats 4 in 1 (mostly because I got  2 coupons on them plus a sale price so i got a big tub for $2 . ) and so far I like it. When i first got it I thought it smelled strongly of detergent but after looking it up, apparently it's okay for the cat and even more healthy for them because it has 96.9% less dust which means it won't make you or the kitty sick! Plus after the cat poops and pees in it, it neutralizes the heavy detergent smell and ends up making your room just smell like clean clothes. ( Which I personally like,  and it's also nice that my house and bedroom don't smell like cat poop/pee.) It clumps right away so it's a really easy clean up, The only downside is that the litter is made up of little tiny round balls and they can get in between your kitties paws and then you'll find litter all in front of your litter box. So I would recommend a litter mat or rug that you can easily vacuum or sweep the litter off of.  :3

At my work however, (Petco Associate!) we use recyclable litter which just clumps and it's unscented. (If you clean out the litter box right away that shouldn't be a problem. ) That works really well and the consistency is like that of a fine beach sand. At the rescue I volunteer for, they prefer to use horse pellets! Who'd have guessed? But apparently that clumps really good as well, but your house will smell like a farm :'D

Arm & Hammer Odor Control. I LOVE it and it clumps. I used a non clumping for one week. It was a mess, stunk horribly. I would have had to clean out the box completely every other day (ammonia odor). It may be expensive, but it works fabulously.

Personally, my two boys and I are thrilled with Tidy Cat 24/7 Performance litter (with the red label). Great clumping, very little to no odor (except on those rare occassions when one of the boys has a poop that emits a green fog! LOL - then I just spritz around a bit of Lysol Neutra Air freshener - Fresh Linen scent). It is also "96.6%" dust free, which I like because their box is covered and I don't want them breathing in dust in an enclosed area. The dust free is also acceptable for kittens. Although I've heard that you don't want to use a clumping litter for kittens under 12 weeks d/t the possibility of them ingesting it (curious kitties!) and getting intestinal blockage.

Shop around and/or check with your vet. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful, but I am not familiar with a lot of the UK brands. I DO know that I find the 'scented' brands end up stinking the entire house with a potent odor of cheap perfume. After a few days the smell disipates - so it's totally worthless!

As far as a litter box for kittens - when my boys were tiny little things, I just bought a cheap, disposable tin roasting/baking pan that had a low side that they could easily climb in and out of. Once they got big enough I purchased a larger, actual litter box.

Hope this helps.

I really like Arm & Hammer clumping litter.

Arm & hammer is really great at odor control and it seems to do well at not falling apart (the clumps)

I buy mine at BJ's, a 40 lb box for $13.

I tried worlds best and it SUCKED. I threw it away after 2 days of use, Its made out of corn and smells gross, and has no odor control.

Youre better off using dirt IMO xD
@teeneythebetta   Was it the Clump and Seal that you tried?  That's the kind I am using now, but had used the ultra last before switching to what am using now. I have noticed that the Clump and Seal pee clumps definitely clumps in comparison to the other one I was using as it always broke up.

All of the AH litters we sells at work are scented, I'm not sure if every variety they have is or not, but it's either in really small printing on the front, side or back - doesn't seem to be consistent between each variety, so you really have to search, lol.

OdourBuster is by far our best selling litter and it's the one that all of my coworkers use. We really like it. It is a clay litter, pretty finely ground.

Our next best selling is Fresh 4 Life, either the unscented regular or multicat, but I don't know if they'll have it where you are. I believe it's a store brand, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

I tried the regular Maxx Scoop and the small spaces one, the regular one was just ok, the small spaces was horrible.

Feline fresh is what i prefer to use...though Matt has other ideas....when i first got him he didn't even know it was litter, and in the absence of a recognizable litter box that first day, he had a panic attack and went in the tub! Luckily we had been short on cash once while we had Sassy and figured out his issue...I used an old dishpan and put down the remainder of the dollar store litter we'd bought way-back-when and he used that. I did try mixing litter, and moving him over, but as soon as i get close to 75% pine he stops burying and sometimes even goes outside the box.. so I'm on the hut for a decent clumping clay

I tried Arm and hammer, but accidentally bought scented.....BOY WAS IT SCENTED! It stunk up my whole basement and made me sneeze...but Matt seemed to like it Lol.

I don't mind Special kitty.........as long as i make it deep, since Matt will make puddles on the bottom of the pan with cheaper litters.

I bought Maxx Scoop, thinking the name was good....and didn't check the bag first......it is non clumping, and HORRIBLE! I will never buy non clumping again..I actually mixed the last of my pine in to absorb the liquid, and have poured it as deep as humanly possible just to use it up. and the cat is taking the risk of interruption and using the upstairs box, which still has the good stuff in it, rather than then wretched box in the basement. next payday that stuff goes right outside whether its used up or not......in the meantime, I'd like to find out what the cats(and their owners) like so I don't make this mistake again lol
@Matts mom  and @nerdrock  I've found that the A&H Clump and Seal does have one for Multi Cats that doesn't seem to have a scent in comparison to the one that isn't scented.  And just  have to look at the bottom (not the bottom of the box itself, but the bottom of  what we can see) as it will have different colors for the two.  The Multi Cats one is like a reddish like color and the scented is a blue color.  I haven't tried any other brands in many years and think it was Tidy Cat way back then when I was growing up (about 26 or so years when I got my previous cat before she went missing and still haven't found her ... I have a new cat I've adopted and continued using the same brand A&H Clump and Seal), but I've been happy with the A&H Clump and Seal.  I've also heard more bad than good about using the lightweight types and refuse to use any of them like that and have told my mom that if she goes to pick some up to not get that kind

That's a great litter. It's up there with Dr Elsey's in my book.

I like the A&H Clump and Seal, too. I have never used the one in the blue box. Only the one in the red box. I think it works great and while I think it does have a scent, it's not overpowering to me at all.

IF you do ever get the the blue box, you will definitely notice the scent and it is a bit overpowering once you first open it.  It doesn't seem to bother me to bad once I get use to it, but doesn't seem to bad and overpowering when my cat uses it either.  I think I had first tried it I had my other cat and had continued with it after adopting the cat I nave now after my other went missing, even though the red is multi cat.  I've kind of alternated I think depending on where I've gotten it (either Walmart or Petco) as I can't remember if one or the other store has both or not and have just gotten what they had.

There is no way I could on my pension afford commercial cat litter and I have never bought any in all my ct years. For many years I used old newspapers.. Since moving to Ireland and to where I live now I cannot get those as they send them all back  but until recently my cats went out most of the time. Now i am using trays again and had a lovely lot of sawdust from the landlord cutting wood in the shed. Now I need to have trays all the time so am using sand from the beaches. I take the solids out and they go down the toilet and wash the sand to use again, under the outside tap in an old pillow case.. works well thankfully.  The cats love it.

I use sWheat Scoop.  I love it!  It is great because it is flushable and we live in an apartment.  That allows me to scoop multiple times a day and just flush it, instead of putting it in a garbage can or something.  His litter box never smells, probably also because I scoop it so often.  If i notice he has gone in it, I scoop.  It is quite expensive, but I have been lucky enough to have coupons or find it on a good sale, and it lasts a long time so I think it works out.

HELP!

I just adopted a 6 year old 23 pound cat - Lucky on 9/5/2015.  I also have another rescued cat I adopted in 2012.  One week after his adoption, I noticed cat acne - so we changed the food bowls to metal...so far so good - the cat acne is gone.  So this cat is allergy prone?

I have had cats all of my life.  However, I never noticed problems with clumping litter until I adopted 23 LB Lucky.

Clumping litters seems to adhere to his paws and he is tracking this around the house.  Also, I think he is ingesting this while cleaning and has spit-ups around the house.  We want Lucky to feel good and we have him (and my other cat) on a high quality weight management food since adopting him.

This week, I have noticed watery  throw-up around/near the litter box.  I smelled it - not pee.  My hubby and I were going to go back to clay litter - but I see bad reviews for this as well.  This kitty is trying like heck to use the litter boxes (3).

Any advise?

Wow. That's a big kitty! Any pics???

A lot of people use pine pellet horse bedding. Your location says PA . You might have a Tractor Supply Company near you. They sell this stuff

http://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/equine-fresh-pine-pellet-stall-bedding-40-lb?cm_vc=-10005

If you read the reviews, you'll see that most people use it as cat litter. It's all natural pine and works great. Some members here swear by it. Good luck

I use plain non-clumping kitty litter with baking soda added for odor control. I got tired of cement boots on the cats from clumping litter.
