My kitten just turned 1month and ever since I got her, she's having a lot of eye discharge in her right eye. But her left eye is totally fine. And every morning, she is having a hard time opening her right eye. So I always moisten her right eye with wet cotton. Help. What could this mean? And what should I do?

Our barn cats when they were young always had a discharge coming from their eyes, wasn't ever really sure what it was but we always brought them inside and if you take a bag of tea probably green tea, nothing that's harsh, put it in some hot water or run it under the tap, but make sure its not really really hot, make sure its warm enough for you to handle and not too hot for the kitten and then gently put it on the kittens eye, and just hold it there for a bit, maybe dab it gently, and do this maybe once a day and it should clear up the cats eye if its having the issue i think we had. its just like as if you had a sore eye and your mom maybe did or maybe didnt have you put a teabag on it. theres just something about it that helps. if it doesn't clear up in a few days, take it to the vet.

Alright. Ill try this one. What was the color of your cat's eye discharge? My cat is also sneezing. Im really worried that she might have cat flu or upper respiratory infection. But she is all well and still feeding. Still active. Ill observe her til tomorrow. And while observing ill take your advice. :) Ill also take her to the vet on Saturday. Thank you.

it was kind of like a yellowy coloured discharge. Its good to hear she's still eating well, make sure she's also getting lots of water to keep hydrated. is there any colour of the mucous thats coming out her nose? I believe if its also a yellowy/green colour, it could be upper resp. I was worried about my cat when he started sneezing but his mucous wasn't any colour so the vet said likely not upper resp. I would love to hear about what the vet says :)
Good luck!

I want to say, to be sure its best to have contact with your vet in almost all such cases. Especielly if the discharge is colored, and thus clearly pus.

Dont play with such eye-problems, unless you ARE very experienced and know what to do.

Those who knows and are much experienced - for example seasoned rescuers, do have their shortcuts, and know what antibiotica is useful, and where to get it.  But they are hereby taking a calculated risk on their own responsibility..

The only safe way is by a decent skilled vet.

We will go to the vet tomorrow. There are no mucous coming out of her nose now. Totally nothing. She breathes normally and eat well. Just excessive green eye discharge. Ill update you guys on what is the vet's finding.

We just went to the vet. And he said we have nothing to worry about. Its just her eyes are producing excess moisture.
