Question about "age group" cat food...

Hi, I've had my two on Hills Scince Diet since I adopted. The girl is 3 and the boy is 2. Ya know that moment when you grab that thing at the store that you wanted, then you get home and it's not at all what you thought you bought? Well it happened to me. I got Hills, but I accidentally bought the SENIORS. They have been on ADULT (1-7 yr). Do you think they'll be ok to consume this bag of senior (apparently I had a senior moment lol) ? It's a small bag, my other screw up I should have noticed GRRRRR !!!

Can you return it? Some pet stores have a great return policy, even if it's already been opened.

To answer your actual question, I don't think it makes a difference. They market certain foods for seniors, kittens, and different breeds but there are only a couple of requirements all cat foods should meet regardless of age: high meat-based protein, ideally low carb, and ideally high moisture content. From my experience, the senior foods I've encountered have been a little lower calorie, lower protein, and lower fat (often under the assumption that senior cats are less playful and active) which isn't unlike "indoor cat" formulas.

Rather than concerning yourself with the title companies apply, check out the ingredients list and calorie count to ensure your cats are getting what they need. If businesses can market something essentially like their other products under a new and fancy name, they will!
